Alan Partridge
PEARCEY
Alan Partridge Probably not much else to add but someone like Bikey just isn't ever going to change. For all his good play at times, he has got a streak in him that is just ridiculous. I don't pthink he's particularly violent or reckless..just well....stupid.

Now you see why Coppell is reluctant to use Bikey for every match of the season, because occasionally and today in a massive game he's let him and the team down massively. I've seen some nonsense about 'if Bikey had played every game we'd have won the league' or 'Bikey is so much better than Duberry' and all this, now you see what someone like Doobs brings that Bikey doesn't. Calmness and professionalism, he's not been caught out stupidly and given away a pen and then even worse got himself sent off. Cost Reading the game no doubt about it, not just that now he misses the rest of the playoffs.

Totally disagree about Duberry. Like Bikey today he has been caught out on the wrong side of the opposing attacker and it has cost us goals and points. To say Duberry has not been caught out stupidly is wholly inaccurate. Yes he has.

Of course but just because he has he then hasn't resorted to blatantly fouling someone in the box with 6 minutes to go. It was petulance from Bikey because he was caught out.

Fair enough alhough reading your initial post you make out Duberry doesn't get caught out stupidly.
I agree though that Duberry does stay calm whereas Bikey has a tendency to occasonally blow it. Duberry played well last night in fairness to him.
What Bikey did last night was petulant and silly. A great shame because he was playing well and coping with their forwards comfortably.

We should forgive Bikey. His peformance untill the 80th Minute yesterday was brilliant, he is the best defender in the league. I would like him here next season, its our loss if we sell him.

He's petulant and sometimes loses his head.

But he's still the best defender at our club (barring Ivar maybe) and will get better and better.

I'd have easily had him down as MoM last night, right up until the last 10mins. He was strong, calm, and played some beautiful balls out to the wings

Get over it people FFS

Without doubt he is our best CB alongside Ivar but the frustrations that boil over have to be looked in the future especially if its ends up costing us the game-which it hasnt as yet (he was sent off right at the death and v Cardiff we rallied). What i was most dissapointed with though was the tug that Bikey gave for the pen. Fine do it in the middle of the park but the position to do it right on the edge of the box at that time was just criminal-he is better than that. Duberry had an ok game considering how his form has generally dipped since xmas.It might sound strange to some but on the ball Bikey really is far calmer with it and doesnt treat it like the 'hot potato' which is becoming all too common with Duberry when he panicks and hacks and slices it in dangerous situations.I think each player has their clear weaknesses but when they are on their game they are very imposing defenders-our defensive record is pretty sound over the 46 games. What is clear as day is how we have missed the organisation of Ivar to keep things well oiled during the entire 90mins. I think you would have to shift some blame towards Andre for the defeat given the timing and the silly nature of the pen but that shouldnt detract from the lack of composure yet again to kill a team off through not being clinical enough in our build up- Kebe's wastefulness just minutes before is pretty much endemic of the way things are going at RFC and only Norwich away really was a return to the way we can kill teams off. We have to get an early goal on tues or i can see it turning out like the 2nd leg v Wolves where we huffed and puffed chasing the game only to run out of steam towards the end and get caught on the break.

yeah, giving away the penalty was absolutely criminal. I am so frustrated and annoyed with him for that. It was totally unnecessary.

However, I am prepared to live with his mad moments because he is the best centre back at the club. Most of the time he manages to keep his discipline and his head. He just loses it sometimes on the pitch. But he is no vicious thug like Joey Barton.

5 pages ago Royal Rother The guy is not, and never has been, a dirty player. I can't think of a single over the top tackle he has made in his time here.

But he does have a screw that comes loose occasionally. Not sure he will be here next season but I'd rather have a player like that in the team than a spiteful dirty player like Barton.

You need to be able to rely on defenders. You simply can't rely on Bikey.

He's made 28 appearances, got at least 6 yellows and 2 reds. He's made plenty of non carded mistakes as well. Much like several other of our players he's got bags of talent, but he simply isn't good enough mentally.

He may have been showing passion when he got sent off, but passion is no good to anyone if you can't control and frankly his reactions were ridiculous for what were good decisions by the ref prompted by his idiocy. He's like a child and we simply don't have room for that sort of moronic behaviour at centreback.

His red at Cardiff was a refereeing error though - can't hold that against him !

He was a dick yesterday but I've forgiven him already.

He will be a rock in the heart of our defence next season in the Championship.

From what I understood he went in like Superman and whilst the ref got what actually happened wrong, when you do that sort of idiotic thing you risk getting sent off.

He doesn't always commit the foul he's punished for, but he puts himself in the position where he makes it easy for the ref to give it against him.

I’m unwilling to pay his wages for another year...

Dashed good of you to have paid him for so long. Perhaps if the rest of us chip in he could stay?

Thompson went down far too easily - his legs just buckled under the force of the shirt tug.
Should have been a pen, a booking for Bikey and a booking for Thompson for diving.

(And, yes, I know everyone goes down easily :? ).

If Thompson was booked for diving then there would be no penalty!
