Thaumagurist* It's not a rumour that he's talked to Wolves though. That's now a fact. Maybe the thread title should be changed to reflect this fact.

But that whole UR&G forum is for shit just like this. Stick it in there please, until it is confirmed by the club that he's moved on at which time it can get back to the Team.

No it's for unfounded rumours and gossip, not for potential transfers. This is not rumour, or gossip, it has happened and the transfer has fallen through. Therefore it belongs in team.

Deals dead according to Mick

I'm pleased that he won't be following Doyle and Hahnemann to that cesspit.

From that report, I think he may have failed the medical?

I'd be surprised if Harps failed the medical tbh. It's been mentioned many times that he is far an away the fittest player at the club. Unless this current injury has done some real damage of course.

I'm glad he's still here. Never been his greatest fan, but i'd like to see him playing in a midfield 3 to see if it might compliment his abilities.

His current groin injury may have something to do with it.

Possibly, hope not though. I think some deals still go through when players are injured, don't they?

I'm not totally sure about the process, but surely when clubs carry out medicals they're looking for some underlying problem that might impact on future fitness/injuries.

As i said, i hope that this groin injury isn't the cause because it would hint at there being a bigger problem, perhaps?!

Yes, Downing for example left Boro.

Depends on the club, player and how much they want them to join there and then.

We've signed players before when they've been carrying injuries.

Sad news this. No idea why it fell through - I can only assume Mick McCarthy must have actually seen Harper play.

i cant help but think Harper in a different system will be very good, and a massive influence next season. Thats coming from one of his biggest critics (bar Tony Le Mesmer and Zammo).

'greed. Although the club probably wanted to move him on to lower the wage bill and enable fresh blood to come in.

Seeing that Harps is in the last year of his contract, £2m was an astounding offer - especially when one considers the offer for a 29 year old not so long ago. Hope Harps gets fit and justifies a place in the starting XI. If that happens we will be doing ok.

I guess Harps may play this year like Sidwell does. If we get a top season out of him, and he earns himself a new contract elsewhere, then he'll probably have been worth £1.2m to us.

Our wage bill is sweet FA anyway- why would we want to lower it even more? Since the prem kitson, sonko, duberry, murty, hahnemann, shorey and doyle have all left and been replaced with kids on 500 a week ffs.

In 2006, the average basic wage of the 21-24 year old bracket was £79K, which is about £1,500 p/w. Of course, who knows what the various bonuses and other add-ons are worth?

Have you ever run a business?

If there are a 2 or 3 high(er) earners that don't really featue in the managers plans why wouldn't you want to try and move them on? It's clear that BR hopes to bring in 1 or 2 more players, if SHunt, Harper or Bikey were to move then it would make things a little easier economically, wouldn't it?

Or, we can offer an identical wage to a player that we're bringing in following Harps' departure, without it increasing our current wage bill.

Exactly. They'd be on a decent wage too.

If this fell through because Harps failed a medical, this surely means he won't be playing for us any time soon :| One can only imagine it's a long term injury.
