Thou Voice I missed the interview - is there a links please?

DID I HEAR? ...obviously not... :D

well to paraphrase:

TD: So Brendan what did you make of that?

BR: Well, Timmy boy, you know, I thought we played really well, but we just didn't win. You know, we deserved t' win the game, but we didn't. It's all about consistency you know (I know I say it every week but it is you know)

TD: They had a good chance at the end and could have won it though?

BR: Yes, they could, but that would have been really harsh. We deserved to win the game, to lose would have been a traversty.

TD: So you're saying we played better today than Tuesday? Because judging by the response we've had from the fans so far, and from what I made of it we actually we played worse today.

BR: No you fool. We played better today. Any fool can see that. You no nothing about football Tim that's the problem. You know, I'm in football, you're not. You're not even a Reading fan.

TD: So what will be different on Saturday?

BR: Well, I won't be letting you near team training Timmy boy, that's for sure, you know jack about football son. An if I were you I'd be shutting my mouth right about now so I would.

(that was basically the gist of it)

Actually Rodgers was far more aggressive than that. Rather than stating that Dellor wasn't a fan, he told him that he wasn't a true supporter because he dared to criticise Rodgers and the performance of the team. Whatever people think of Dellor, no one in their right mind could claim that he wasn't a Royals fan through and through. Using the Rodgers definition, I suspect the club only have a couple of hundred true fans at present.

And that's what makes it all the worse imo, he's slagging off a lot of the fans along with Dellor and if that's what he thinks of us loyal royals, he can do one.

How charming you are. If you truly are happy with everything at this club, and our style of play and the manager's tactics etc etc, then I suggest you either pass around whatever it is you're on, or go see a Dr.

I enjoyed the game today but came away frustrated as well.

McAnuff tore the defence apart on so many occasions and was through once before being chopped down.

If only we had killed off Scunny with a second goal.....

Our shape seemed to go a bit after the substitution. Kebe is SO frustrating, stunning at times, then failing to use his head on others.

Cummings seemed a bit more solid than before.

The referee, although having a generally good game, needs to distinguish between so-called 'backing-in' and defenders' arms all over our players.

Tabb is Mr. Dependable.

We need that cutting edge.

Keep the faith....

Ideal Jesus Christ, that is much worse than I thought!!!
If he manages to stay in the job after that interview, I think it is simply shocking.
If I were Madejski right now I would be absolutely livid!

Did I hear someone say "EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING"?

I may have embellished it a bit here and there... but you get the idea.

Ideal There is a huge difference in what counts as a chance in my book.
Remember the one goal Convey scored, where he ran half the pitch on a counter attack and scored? That is effective football.
Re-visit it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKNEo3iMHDA
Now, THAT is football. (Same thing for the goal against Hull)

Compare that to the impotent crap we are served up now. Where some of our players win the ball, stand about, pass it sideways, let the opposition regroup, ends up with shot from long range. IMPOTENT CRAP.

RODGERS OUUUTTTT!

Whilst I DO get your point, the 106 season was a one off and very few teams will reproduce what we did that year in the near future. The Convey goal was also a one off, but I don't think it really demonstrates 'effective football' that you are trying to argue a case for: He beat two players and then sprinted half the pitch - that is down to the individual player's ability not a particular way/style of playing or tactical nous by the manager.

I agree/believe that we should be more direct (and I don't mean longball). Get at your opponent before they have a chance to regroup. Front players need to be more demanding of the ball and make themselves available. Go for them when they are unsettled and take control of the situation, rather than let them get in a position that forces you to come up with something special in order to break them down.

And there, in a nutshell, is exactly the issue at the club - how many chances did we miss today? Is this the first time this season that we haven't "killed a team off"?

Essentialy, football is a results driven business and we aren't consistently getting results - 4 points from the last 4 games against pretty dire opposition is relegation form.

Dellor is a bellend and his knowledge of football is pretty crap considering he watches it every week and get's paid for it, but Rodgers had no right to slag him off and say that he wasn't a fan. The fact is though that Brendan talks a lot shit and doesn't help himself with his baffling substitutions e.g. Robson-Kanu off for Kebe when Hal was really making an impact and looked dangerous going forward. Kebe was rubbish again apart from two half decent balls he put in and at times it was like we had 10 players on the pitch.

We pissed two points away today due to our leaky defence.

I know you can't live in the past - BUT THAT IS SUCH A SAD CLIP - looking at all those people that have long left RFC and what makes it even worse, the clip isn't even that old.

Looking at the picture where clubs strive for success, nobody seems to have such a high turnover of players in any club I recall like RFC.

Still, when we in Blue Square Premiership, Rodgers bleating that we are a "Premiership" team and the sponser of the club is "Martin's Newsagent", at least we'll have that clip to remember what our football team was like.

RODGER's OUT.

Do You See?

Just heard it on BBRB, and it was no where near as bad as i expected, I think the comment about TD not being involved was tongue in cheek, BR did not say we were great, just that he can see improvements, and to be fair the number of shots we had would have won most games, also he explained why Berty was missing and he had to change the team late on, prsied Tabbfor being versatile, I reckon is what I would have expected from a manager after the game.

Wide and Wonderful Oh I dunno.

Todays game was like seeing an old friend. A cold December floodlit game where we managed to give away a one nil lead to a woeful and struggling bottom of the table team. Moaning about the failure of players to put away chances, feeling dejected and miserable and trying to work out how we threw it away. Took me back 10, 20 years.

That made me because it's so God-damn true! I'm glad there are some people who can take comfort and solace at the current predicament we find ourselves in :D

Ideal
Wide and Wonderful The Convey goal was also a one off

Watch the same video and see excellent pass and move for the goal Convey scores against Hull. You can not argue that all of them are "a one off", it was our style of play to counter attack, and it was VERY effective!

And the goal Convey scored against Norwich also typifies the style of play that year. We get the ball back near our own box, Shorey chips it ahead to Convey, and Convey races with the ball into the attacking third. There are players making runs in front of him and the Norwich defense is at a complete loss. Of course it helped that we had a stable of strikers in Kitson, Lita, and Doyle that were far more dynamic than Rasiak, and Sidwell and Harper were a tireless team in midfield. We were so good at running at every defense we faced that year and if a shot wasn't immediately available, we had the class to play it around the attacking third until something opened up. Now we seem to want to hold the ball in midfield and we just don't have the class to keep it.

And yeah I think the bit about not letting Dellor near training wasn't serious - a little dig - but a joke all the same.

But still, it was a bit of a disppointing reaction to a fair comment. But then he's not used to being put on the spot by reporters...
