oxf*rd driving him, I'd bloody CARRY him to Liverpool for £2m!!!

I like Fed and think he's a good keeper who could be excellent for us in the long run, but there is nothing like mugging a "Big Four" club!!

Sell, sell, sell!!!

Why why why????

None of our back-up keepers have any experience at this level. Feds has been nowhere near as bad as some on here are suggesting.

True, but he only has half a season's experience, so for a clear profit of £2M we'd be only be losing that minimal experience, and by all accounts Hamer is knocking on the door to replace Feds anyway.

2 million and can't cover his near post. That's why. But you're right - I would worry about his replacement. How good is Hamer?

Hamer looks very nervous at the moment - needs games under the belt

londinium
adamh4608 LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez wants Reading keeper Adam Federici for £2million.
Benitez reckons the Aussie, 24, can provide competition for current Reds No 1 Pepe Reina.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... R=Football

Goes to show that Benitez doesn't know his arse from his elbow and if he thinks that Fed is anywhere near the class of Reina then he is a total mentalist.

I guess thats why Liverpool are crap at the moment as they have a fool in charge.

Tbh this is most likely a load of tosh mate. The Sun isn't the most reliable source for true stories.

It's almost so stupid it must be true.

Journo wouldn't just make it up and if Feds agent was pushing for a new deal (which I also doubt) he'd leak a slightly more believeable story.

Like Bristol Rovers are interested in him, as cover....

Bit more than half a season. He had a run of a fair few games last season, in fact he's got 50 first team appearances for us. Some have come against Premier League opposition, most against Championship.

Hamer on the other hand has over 100 appearances, but at a lower level, with only 20 shaky minutes against Liverpool and a game against Barnsley in the cup being of even comparative levels of quality. (ignoring any potential big cup ties whilst on loan)
Essentially Hamer has only about a season's games more experience than Fed and at a lower level.

Fair enough - but I'd be more than happy to trade £2M for a decrease in experience of just one season.

I suspect £2 million would then buy us Ashdown and Smith from Pompey....

I'd bite off their hand if they offered two million, for a goalkeeper of Fed's experience and ability it's obscene. Not sure I'd be happy with Hamer stepping up just yet. Certainly not with only Andersen or McCarthy as back up.

For once I have some inside info.

I know a Sport's Editor at The Sun who said 'knowing the journo involved I'd say this one's a bit of a flyer"

Liverpool have got even more back-up keepers than RFC and Benitez would not have been impressed by Frederici's positioning for the goal in the FA Cup tie and remember what a bad game he had against Liverpool in the Carling Cup last season on the night Bikey was chasing shadows when attempting to mark (Kick) Torres who happened to score a hat-trick.

Ah, I'd thought that was similar to "it's got legs" ie it's accurate and could go a long way.

See my prevous post about David Martin not signing a new contract. I'm convinced this is Rafa using a tame journo to send a message to the kid......
