You are obviously a post 2006 fan.

If you are satisifed with playing in a friendly environment with no real achievement at the end of it, or to aspire to, then fair play. At least you are honest enough to admit that.

It's better than half of these mugs who think Reading might win a trophy or play in europe and think some billionaire is going to takeover and elevate Reading into something more than a yo-yo club.

My only criticism is that being an 'established' premier league club is no achievement or excitement. Look at Bolton for example, hardly the envious example.

And 20 years ago you'd be deluded to think we could one day finish 8th in the top flight! All about economies of scale Finch lad, thought you'd learn that with all the courses you've been on?

Yeah, but it aint gonna happen again. There's nothing left to achieve that hasn't already been achieved.

Finch got out at the right time. 8)
How about promotion and finishing higher than 8th? Might not happen for another 20 years but if/when it does, it'll be a greater acheivement

So there is potentially a greater acheivement out there and you want to move the goalposts to talk about value after agreeing with me?

It's possible, yes. But the likelyhood of a billionaire coming in when he has the chance to buy 20/30 other clubs in this country who are more attractive and open to offers is about as likely as Nicky Hammond's vision that you can be as big as Arsenal.

Reading will NEVER EVER achieve greater than they did in 2006 and 2007/8. But you are right, there is a chance. Anyone who oxf*rd money up the wall every week in the hope one day it'll happen will sadly be very dissapointed.

Let's assume for one minute that you do and you finish 5th in the PL (no chance of this and no chance of CL or winning a cup, EVER), and get into Europe, so what? You play some eastern European side in front of 3,000 fans at 4.00 on a Thursday afternoon in front of Ian Royal and his cock on channel 5, only to be beat in a game no one cares about, does not constitute excitement for me.

This is no fishing trip, it's precisely why Finch got out.

p.s - there's no "Royal" in Finch!

For a starter it was Nigel Howe that made the comment about us being able to be as big as Arsenal not Nicky Hammond. Nor did I say about being bought out by a billionaire mush 8)

Surely you're contradicting yourself when you say "Reading will NEVER EVER achieve greater than they did in 2006 and 2007/8. But you are right, there is a chance" ??

The former is a prediction, the latter is a fact.

Let's get back to the point in stead of trying to pick a fight (and lose) on a technicality.

Finch Reading don't have a future. Come to think of it, they don't have a present. RFC died in 2006 lad.

F*ck off newbie. If we have no future, why in the hell are you doing in this forum talking to 'nobbers' who live and breathe Reading FC?

Hey man, if you don't support the club that's fine by me, but to say that the RFC or any other club to have no future and spreading this nonsense on HNA is truly shocking for any football fan.

Have you looked at the games we played in the FA cup this season? Beating Liverpool and Burnley is no easy feat. How many Championship teams can proudly say that they beat Liverpool? Not only that win put the club on the map, it has also made us more popular. Thrust me, I know.Coming from Singapore, not many people even heard of Reading FC. Most just support Man Utd or Chelsea due to the trophies and honors they get every season. But after our remarkable run in the FA cup, we were even praised and respected by even the most skeptical of supporters and pundits in the country.

So, basically, if you believe the club has no future, I advise you to kindly oxf*rd off.

Yes, i noticed the games in the FA Cup, congratulations on losing to VIlla but gaining a few extra fans in Singapore because you beat Liverpool. That's really a great achievement but no one will remember it and shows the small time nature of RFC.

Hey man, It maybe shocking but it is reality. You'll never win a cup, never play in Europe, so what does that leave? Promotion? Been there seen it, got the t shirt and it won't be beaten. Premier League stability? Great, be another boring club like Bolton who go no where.

Thank you for your kind advice, I'll chose to ignore it if i may.

Best,

A Newbie.

Every club has a future! If I'm correct, many people said that Chelsea had no future in the past till Abramovich came over and brought the club. With his money, the club then proceeded to win the Premier League.

Sure, I am not expecting a mega-billionaire to buy the club any time soon but wouldn't it be better to hope for something better? If the club can be promoted with a record number of 106 points, I don't see why they cannot challenge themselves for Europe. Look at Portsmouth (before financial problem), not exactly a club with class and distinction are they? After they are promoted, they slowly began to fight their way up the tables in the Premier League then the fought against the best in Europe in the Uefa cup. Who is to say Reading FC can't do it? Believe me, even Bolton fans are hoping their club can make it. They may not be the best side in the BPL, but at least they are playing and rubbing shoulders with one of the best in the world.

Rather than fighting for a mid-table place in the Football League, wouldn't it be better to be fighting for a mid-table to a 6-5th spot in the Premier League :?: ? :?

whilst its nice that we are a family club and all that etc etc.

I shouted the F work ONCE yesterday and the man in front told me not to swear in front of his child. it was like being told off at school! I would also like to point out that this was directed at Kanu and his selfishness when we were about 4 on 2 and he shot at the keeper instead.

maybe we do need a family stand!
