If you lot think Sidders was a good passer then you are remembering hhim through rose tinted glasses, sometimes he was awful, gave a lot of effort and ran around a lot.......who does that sound like?

Sidwell was a great player, i thought he was rubbish when he first joined, i couldn't believe he was an England Under 21 player. he scored 2 for us in his first season by the way, away at Burnley.

That might be why Harps and Sidds played so well together, one won the ball and one passed it.

No one mentioned his first season, you said "at the same age" and I picked the stats from the season when he was the same age as Karacan was this season.

I dont think you'd find many people who would argue that Sidwell isn't, at the very least, in our top 5 all time players.

I do think Sidwell was very, very good for us. There were lots of things about him that made the team stronger, all i'm saying is that he wasn't perfect.

I apologise for the first season remark, i read it wrong, i went back and read it again and realised my mistake.

None is saying he was perfect, but he was streets ahead of Karacan at the same age.

As I have said previously if Karacan can improve his passing so that he doesn't give it away to the opposition so frequently (and this is without trying "killer" passes) then we will have a very very good player on our hands.

Let's just hope that McD can work his magic on Karacan like he did on Kebe.

I don't think Karacan needs as much work as Kebe, to be fair, if Karacan was 'brilliant' at passing then he would be one heck of a player.

Needs or needed?

And yes he does. As a central midfielder who bases a lot of his game around breaking up the opposition attacks and winning the ball, he has to then be able to retain possession. If he can't then there is no point him being on the pitch. Passing is a crucial area and it is probably the weakest part of his game and will take a lot of work to improve both the technical skills and the decision making.

Kebe's improvement was more on the mental side of his game than technical - giving him confidence and belief that he can beat players as well helping him on positions to take up and what final ball to play (shoot, low cross, high cross, etc). He has made the improvements and only time will tell if Karacan can.....

Is that the same Griff who is currently sunning himself on the beach in Spain?

There are some flights between here and Spain...

Easy job to hop on a plane to H'row first thing, sort out a deal and back round the pool in time for pre dinner drinks

If it wasnt him he must have a twin who frequents the hotel at the stadium then

Unless of course he was using the cash machine, going to the Jazz Cafe, picking someone up or popping into the megastore on the way somewhere else...

Could also be he's got a very confused SatNav who thought that driving passed (sic) the MadStad was a shortcut.

Thank goodness this thread has got back to talking about Griffin! (even if it is a fishing sighting). Any chance we can keep the Jem and Sidwell chatter to a dedicated thread on the 2? They have absolutely NOTHING to do with us trying to sign Griffin. Jem doesn't, and Sidwell didn't, play in remotely the same position.

That's all. Thanks.
