Approach for Karacan

by Pseud O'Nym » 17 Jul 2010 03:23

Someone I believe to have connections to those ITK informs me that the club have been approached by Galatasaray asking permission to speak to Jem Karacan. Apparently they did approach his family when he was a schoolboy, so may be true.

I mentioned this a month ago and it got shot down. If it does happen then providing the fee is suitable, let him go

There have been on and off rumours about Galatasaray watching him for about 2 years. As he is a young up and coming Turkish international it would not be surprising if they are interested. In the end if they make an offer I think the contract situation will decide whether or not we sell.

If he is willing to extend his contract then I suspect he will stay, but if not we may cash in as he only has a year left. We will then be quite short of defensive midfield options so we may need to replace him. Personally I hope he stays as I think he has a bright future.

As long as they are the ONLY performances you look at. Otherwise, you'd realise that he's ok but nothing more .... yet.

Loan out Karacan? Have you ever seen him play? He's streets better all round than Davies. So loan out Davies and keep Karacan, who I may add is proven at this level, which Davies isn't. So it's a no brainer.

If Karacan can improve his pass success rate then he will be a very very good midfielder.

Karacan & Davies also play in totally different ways really, with Davies being all speed and attack and Karacan being about workrate and defence.

Given we've let Marek & Cisse go and are telling Davies to find somewhere else, getting rid of Karacan starts to leave us very light in midfield, from having been rather bloated. It also leaves no real decent cover for our midfield of Tabb, Sigurdsson & Howard.

Therefore, because this has reared it's head before and gone nowhere, I suspect it will go nowhere again.
