Going against what I said earlier, the player for me who was far better than many gave credit was Kevin Watson. I always thought the team looked better with him playing than not.

Another vote here for Ivar Ingimarsson. Not unsung in the way others here are mentioned, but if I asked you to name the 05/06 Championship winning team (that many acknowledge as the best RFC team they've ever seen), then I bet most would mention Doyle, Kitson, Little, Convey, Sidwell, Murty, Shorey, Sonko, Hahnemann and maybe even Harper before they get to him. However he's been without doubt one of the best servants this club has ever had, scores a fair few goals from corners and makes up for a lot of other people's mistakes. All round top bloke too.

Totally agree.
He'd keep Howard out of the current team

Everyone seems to have forgotten Gunnarsson.

Of the current crop it can only be Gunnarsson

Of players past my first thought was Kevin Watson

Both did/does the unglamorous dirty work and gets little recognition despite being ever reliable

What position did he play? Was he striker who couldn't score from open play or a defender who couldn't defend?

Mick Gooding - he was neither the flashy play maker nor "the look at me I'm a hard man" midfielder who seemed to get the credit - but he rarely had a bad game and was the complete package.

Ray Hiron, a decent centre back and a bloody good postman following his retirement.
