muddyfeet I dont have babies what do I get?!

Plus that seems more of the "family bit" rather than the "female supporter marketing campaign bit"

True, but it seems more and more that people at RFC see things in just two shades of blue - everyone who comes to a match is either a nice, middle-class family who shops at Waitrose, or they're a hooligan. Any middle-ground seems to be eroding all the time.

Far be it from me to suggest the club are trying to create 2 groups of fans in a classic divide and conquer attempt

I'm not sure they are - they're just trying to completely eradicate anyone who doesn't fit their template of the perfect middle-class supporter who sits quietly, waves their arms to whatever the latest music after goals is, and buys all the merchandise.

At this point I'll quote Ray Booth : "For every hooligan I ban I attract a family of four."

I think the pendulum on who is "a hooligan" has swung way too far over, so that it includes those who actually demonstrably enjoys the game - and who actually create the atmosphere the cub crave so much.

Svlad Cjelli This could be related :

Priority for families in bus queues.

Not being a bus user myself, does this really happen?

- Special parking area for families with a child under 8 years.
- Priority for families in bus queues.
- Baby changing and 'parent and child' toilet facilities.
- Undercover intelligence officers and CCTV cameras to identify culprits and investigate cases of foul, abusive or racist language.
- Under 16s Season Tickets reduced by £50 to £99 which has seen an increase of more than 6% (12 & Under up 11%, 13-16 up 2%)

Wtf should families get priority queuing? :x

And the undercover intelligence officer just sums the whole sneaky, simpering, middle-class operation up. Get to f*ck.

The only thing I've really noticed is the removal of the towels for drying hands to be replaced with air dryers. Not sure if that's an improvement really.

Hmmm.... Undercover Intelligence Officers. Does this mean I will no longer be able to launch an invective tirade against the opposition right back or the linesman? If I get a ban I could finally break free from the increasingly loathsome Mad Stad experience.

Undercover intelligence officers really is taking things to a ridiculous extreme. Particularly if they're after people for using abusive language. No more telling the officials to let their guide dogs run the line!

Next step

And then they've succeeded in completely killing off any atmosphere.

This from a club who have at least one steward who believes he should tell supporters off for shouting too loudly!

I know that "undercover operatives" sat in my seats back in the championship year.

I moved seats from the middle of the east stand to what I'd always regarded as the "family area" in the north end of the east stand as I got my then six-year old son a HST. Unfortunately I ended up sat right in front of three of the worst unreconstructed racist imbeciles I have ever encountered. Everything Sonko or Lita did wrong on the pitch was due to the colour of their skin. Every other word in their normal spoken conversation was fcuk or pcunt and we would invariably be treated to tales of who had shagged who and who had fought who on the mean streets of Theale iirc.

The second time we sat there (having hoped it was a one-off the first time) I politely requested they moderate their behaviour within earshot of my son. Guess how that went!

After the third match (when I upgraded my son's ticket so a friend could join me) I asked the club to find me different seats. The ground was pretty much sold out so they obviously wanted to know why I wanted to move. When I explained they said they would move me for the next match and sit someone in my seats to see what was going on.

A game later they phoned and said they had dealt with the issue and did I want to return to my seats. Obviously being a grass and not knowing who these delightful fellows knew in the seats around me I declined and the club found me different seats and paper tickets each week until the end of the season.

I care not a jot what happened to those pcunts behind me.

Obviously this is a problem with (sold-out) all seater stadia and with the absence of a family area at the club. Maybe now is the time, now that attendances are down, for the club to re-instate a family stand.

I don't want to sterilise anyone's football experience. I'm all for leaving Y25/Y26 to their own devices (racial, homophobic and now sexist abuse aside of course) so all the lads can stand and swear to their hearts' content. My kids love the banter and chants that drift over from the east stand but it's very different hearing it to being in the middle of an intimidatory atmosphere.

There's no reason why RFC can't be a family club and keep the Y26ers happy. Give the kids somewhere specific to sit and most of the problems will go away.

Part, if not all, of the Lower West should be turned into a designated family stand.

That air of silence has drifted into the stadium and has been there for quite a while
