JC I don't see how you can say they overtook us at the end of the season

At the end of Feb they were 2nd and we were 10th
At the end of March they were 3rd and we were 7th
At the end of April they were 4th and we were 5th
They finished 3rd and we finished 4th on the same points

No, we finished 5th, three points behind them. They overtook us at the end, because at one point we were 4th and they were 5th.

We DID (briefly) go above them, but only because (Game 42) we beat Leicester 16 April as they drew.

We then threw it away v Leeds 0-0 away (good result) Sheffield Utd 2-3 (stupid result)

But to say "they overtook us at the end" gives a very false impression of the realities.

We were chasing, chasing, and they were slipping, but recovered

Last 14 games, positions

2 2 2 2 2 3 4 4 4 5 5 4 4 3 Swansea
9 T T 8 7 6 6 5 5 4 4 5 5 5 Reading

Saying that they overtook us at the end doesn't give a false impression of the realities, because it is what happened. It is like a race in which a runner catches up and overtakes just before the end, and then is overtaken in turn at the last minute. That runner is overtaken at the end by the runner he previously overtook. I draw no conclusion about next week's result from the fact that Swansea scored more points than us in the last four games; but it is what happened.

I'm pretty sure that Snowball is anti looking at results within an arbitrarily chosen time frame, so I can't see the relevance of that stat.

Stats don't matter ...its a one-off game ...if stats mattered id be picking all the lottery numbers that appear to be most popular coming up every weekend...but would I win ? No

Personally I think that conclusively shows who's been the better side all season and who had one great short term run.

Where did you get it from Platy? Genuinely curious to have a look myself.

If you wish to be pedantic, then you are WRONG.

We chased them for 42 games, briefly passed them. They went back above us BEFORE the end (after game 43).

The end is the last minute of game 46. They did not overtake us at the end. They led us for 42 of 46 games, we briefly caught them, and they "came back" 2-3 games BEFORE the end.

Platy, I believe the table CAN lie, but if you say it doesn't,
then after 43 games, weren't READING the better side
"over the whole of the season" (so far)?

You can't have it both ways.

Oh yeah, because if we lose that will conclusively prove that winning the game without Kebe wasn't possible!

Oh shit, SDR. You do it to yourself.

Swansea 1-0 Reading my prediction, by the way, assuming Kebe doesn't start. Once you hear the team news you need to lump on Swansea BIG TIME!

Conclusion?
They will score early,we eventually equalise, go ahead but they either win in the 90th minute or beat us in the penalty shoot-out?

Sorry, you're actually not getting the difference between predicting a defeat, and believing that there is literally no chance of victory? I believe the result is in doubt with or without Kebe, so I won't be lumping on Swansea despite my gut feeling that we're going to be narrowly beaten. You seem to believe that we have no chance without Kebe, so you really need to take out a loan and collect the free cash that the bookies are offering - once you hear the team news, of course.

He is in the "strike a pose" video on the official site in prep for the game - so seems like he has a chance.
