Stevenage v Peterborough is almost a derby with easy regular trains between them.

There is potentially another game in that list that could have trouble - Wycombe v Colchester; the oddest rivalry in football!

Why don't they like each other then?

There was trouble at a game years and years ago when things kicked-off a bit in a drawn cup game, and because of that the West Ham & Chelsea firms turned out for the replay the following midweek.

Slightly disappointing considering I was planning on going there pre-season anyway, but hey, it might be fun...

I thought it went back to a year when they were the only two horses in the race to win the Vauxhall Conference at a time when only the champions were promoted and there were no play offs.

I understand it stemmed back when both teams were in the Conference and battling for the sole promotion place, and things got a bit heated. The incident SC mentions was about 10 years ago in Wycombe, where the Col U fans got off the train and trashed the first pub they saw, which was called (iirc) something like the Flint House (cos it had lots of flints in the walls) and which happened to be a pub for sado's which tried to "liven" things up by having lunchtime strippers........ :D

In fact, it's a combination of quite a few games, starting with an FA Cup game :

Seemed to have found an answer..

Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon will play each other in a Carling Cup preliminary round next month.

Following a draw to determine home advantage, the Football League's two newest clubs will meet at Crawley's Broadfield Stadium on Friday, July 29 for a place in the first round proper.

The preliminary round is necessary as holders Birmingham were relegated, but due to their Europa League commitments will not compete in the competition until round three.

The Carling Cup therefore requires one club fewer in the first round, so the two clubs placed lowest in the domestic league system last season will meet in a one-off game.

Preliminary round between the two lowest-placed team to make up for the difference in numbers in the first round - Brum in the UEFA Cup has screwed up the numbers.

Crap draw not botherd this has been a terrible cup for us. Oxford and Swindon have both won it, even Wycombe have reached the semis.

Wouldn't of thought our game will be played on the same day as West Ham v Aldershot so could be moved to the wednesday.

My mate at Carling got confused...he actually saw the draw being done for the ladies teams.
