Tony Le Mesmer
Ian Royal Well done to him, but these point scoring attempts are rather premature. One game on his return due to injury does not re-write history to prevent him having been very poor at the start of the season (defensively and with set pieces).

Nor does it mean he will solve all our problems or continue to play well over the next however many games he's in the team.

Should we really be relying on an ageing left back taking set pieces for our goals? Of course not.

He's an excellent player to have competing with Mills for the left back spot, certainly as back up. Mills is the future though.

Utter Bullshit

Which bit is utter bullshit?

FiNeRaIn I dont think Ian's post is actually that bad, clearly in the long term we don't want to stick with Ian Harte as he's old enough as it is. I do however think something had to change at the moment and its worked today. Lets see how it goes in the next few games and give Harte a chance to prove if his forms changed from earlier in the season.

Eggzactly.

I agree we can't treat Harte as a long term option with his age. He's a very necessary short term fix right now though.

With another 12 corners today following the 20 odd against Cardiff, regardless of any other arguments, the way we are playing right now just screams out for "dead ball" Harte above Mills.

Good on Harte, but I disagree with the whole "removal of 10+ goals a season". Most were from penalties and some were from free kicks. He missed his penalty this year and his free kick delivery early on in the season made him look like a completely different and largely inferior player. Mills gives us extra options and I believe is better all round.
Mills hardly put a foot wrong in the last few games and has arguably looked one of our better players

He's worth another run in the team IMO, and if his radar goes awry the way it did at the beginning of the season or he's completely fleeced, then bring back Mills.

Mills might be imroving and showing plenty of energy but I still think his dead ball delivery is hit and miss, and his basic passing is woeful.

Tbf, Harte had a shocking run last season and bucked up his ideas after being dropped. Same could happen again.

I wish people would think before they post. Only one, maybe two of his goals last season were from penalties. Long was top dawg for penalties last season.

Tony Le Mesmer Love it. Just defies belief the shit Harte has got.

Form is temporary, class in permanent.

Shame careers aren't though. Players age

Harte in the interim if needs be, but Mills is the future

A textbook lesson in how to strongly imply the opposite of what you're thinking in that case.

sandman If you want a load of bollocks listen to the last two callers on BBCRB.

LOL Do you mean that bloke who kept on about "a clean sheet means you can't win games" I was driving at the time and chuckling away - obviously thinks a "clean sheet" means 0-0. WHY do they let these people on?? :|

Ideal I don't really understand what's going on in the minds of those people who think this changes anything, everyone already knew he was good at set pieces, but shit at defending. How is this anything new?

An away win in the Championship is always a good result. Ipswich will finish top half.

What on earth has that got to do with how many of Harte's goals were penalties? For the record I saw abut 30 of our games live or on the screen last season.

And still the second-best away defence. Third best GD away

P9 W4 D2 L3 10-8 = 14 Points

All three of those away defeats were 1-0 (Hull, freak goal, Forest, Pompey)

Clearly it's our home record that is hurting us

Seems like Harte now has four assists for the season in 8 (1) games

PS ALF is doing well with four goals and 3 assists in 11 (2)

Compare that to McAnuff, 17 games, no goals, the same 3 assists, or Keb

Calling goals or assists major contributions (I DO know there are other things like tackles etc)

11 (02) 11.33 Games for 7 MC = 4 Goals 3 Assists = 1 in 1.83 Le Fondre

08 (01) 08.17 Games for 4 MC = 0 Goals 4 Assists = 1 in 2.04 Harte

10 (06) 11.00 Games for 4 MC = 3 Goals 1 Assists = 1 in 3.67 Hunt

11 (03) 11.50 Games for 4 MC = 2 Goals 2 Assists = 1 in 3.83 Kebe

17 (00) 17.00 Games for 3 MC = 0 Goals 3 Assists = 1 in 5.67 McAnuff

Surprised how reasonable Jimmy's stats are
