The Battle of Y26

by floyd__streete » 02 Jan 2012 12:30

As welcome as the team's return to form has been recently, there has also been a gratifying impasse in 'Occupy East Stand' at the top of Y26 of late. Things came to a head during a particularly dull early season home game where the Happiness Patrol in their luminous bibs came up the stairs for the umpteenth time to demand that everyone sit down and behave themselves. Frustrated by poor fare on the pitch in part perhaps, the reply of "we pay your wages, we'll do what we want" came back and a good couple of hundred at the top of this section of the East have remained standing ever since. There have been token efforts from the stewards in response, but this is becoming rarer by the game. Has Clive Doyle admitted defeat, or is he intending to cluster-bomb several dozen Librarians into the vicinity?

Who really cares anyway. I am moving up to the Upper West next season, already decided. Up there, my angst-ridden boisterousness will threaten to be the biggest threat to the longevity of the elderly since Dr Shipman.

if clive and the stewards are starting to relax their stance on standing, lets not have a go and encourage them to start laying the law down again, aye. if anything they deserve some recognition for easing off and trying to meet the fans in the middle.

They have noticibly relaxed their stance on standing.

You'll moan even more for the extra price you'll have to pay up there.

Fcuking hell - you, Mr Angry and Woodcote in the same vicinity? It'll be 90 minutes of incessant moaning!

I sit in close proximity to both Woodcote and Mr Angry. Having an opinion doesn't necessarily constitute moaning does it..? I find them both very amusing TBH.....

And don't think that the stewarding there is any better either. If you sit between the red seats and North Stand, beware of one particularly nasty jobsworth. Plus, be aware of a number of people who sit lifeless throughout games. You will hate it but the view is excellent

Would the middle be halfway up the East Stand?

You are a steward,
A lonely steward,
You're only happy when we're sat down,
You wear a bright top, You look a right cock,
You'll never take my standing away!

Although a poor atmosphere (nothing to chear about at all) i was happy to see how easily the tangos now give up when trying to make people sit down. 2 or 3 minutes of half hearted "lads sit down" and then they gave up. All good news in that respect!
