Ian Royalhandbags_harris For the Birmingham run you buy a return ticket to from Reading to Banbury, and a separate return ticket from Banbury to Birmingham NS. You stay on the same train because your whole journey is covered. The cost of the "split" ticket is significantly cheaper, around £10 - £15, than an unsplit Reading-Birmingham NS return.
The only rule that I know of is that when you do this you are required to use trains that stop at the station where you have split the ticket. As all XC trains stop at Banbury on the way to Birmingham you have no worries about that.
IN fwiw.
Don't think you do need to be on a train that stops there. I've been told to get a London Travel card to zone 6 and a Return from West Drayton (I think) to Reading to get from Cambridge to Reading cheaper. I specifically asked the guy if its ok to get the normal Paddington line to Reading which doesn't stop at West Drayton and he said its fine.

IIRC it was pretty well half the price AND there were no restrictions on what train you took as it was a standard day return compared to a prebooked advanced saver ticket.

You do need to be on a train which calls at Banbury (which they all do). This is because you will be buying two normal day return tickets. If one ticket is a season ticket or travelcard then you do not need to call at the split station, which is the ticket you would have had Ian.

Permentrude According to brum online ticketing there are aprox 4300 unavailable seats in the away end, blocks GML1-GML5. Home fans in GML6&7 with tickets already being sold in those blocks.

So it looks like we'll get a minimum of 4000 then (allowing for the fact that plod/stewards will put a "safety" gap between the two sections)
With that number available I would expect a good 1000 or so to make general sale.
Just so very IN for this one.
