Royal Rother Ok, he got it pretty much wrong, we all do from time to time. But it's the absolute denial and total lack of self-depracation / humour that does him in.

Schards#2 Oh this is nothing, over at AE, because I put up the argument that the rich DO pay a fair share of tax, some bozo ranted that "if I believe that, then I must also believe...." and listed about ten things on which I'd never voiced an opinion and most of which I disagreed with, before ending that, given I believed all this, I must be a nazi sympathiser![]()
In the last four years, I've watched many, many games which I have found exceptionally dull, just because we've got promoted, I'm not go to airbrush my thoughts on these games and decide they were thrilling. If someone else saw the same and thought they were great, good for them, it's all about matters of opinion rather than fact , which is why I won't be changing mine. I find it staggering that some people seem so fraught because someone else holds a different point of view, even more so when it's someone who hasn't seen more than a handful of games on which to form an opinion. Seriously, get over it people.

Schards,
I can't - and didn't - disagree with you about many poor games and poor performances in the years gone by. They're all there and no-one is rewriting history, but you took HR to task for having the temerity to say that the seasons as a whole have been inspiring and interesting. I don't think we've had a uninteresting season for over a decade now. Life as an RFC fan is up, it is down, it is passionate, it is joyful, it is frustrating beyond belief at times, but it is never dull. That surely is the same for a regular like yourself, a lifelong loon like Blackie or a full-time fan like HR who can't get to many games, but must still be allowed to express his opinion, even if he's not at may games. Perhaps his distance from those games makes it all seem so much exciting without suffering the minute by minute agonies of poor games. You seem equally fraught that he can hold that opinion.

Maguire Let's face it brendy, you were high as a kite for 90% of the games this season so you'd have walked away happy even if you'd just spent a couple of hours watching me and Silver Fox play Subbuteo

3 veesinarowHampshire Royal I'm assuming that you're talking about the last four seasons:
2008/09: Play Offs
2009/10: Fantastic end to the season
2010/11: Play Offs
2011/12: Promoted
Pretty dull and uninspiring. Makes you wonder why Anton decided to invest in Reading.
Don't forget the two FA Cup quarter finals, being 2-0 up on Villa in one quarter and taking Citeh all the way at their gaffe in the other, beating Liverpool & Everton on Merseyside, the battle of West Brom and Sig's wonder goal...oxf*rd it, Schards is right, dull and uninspiring.

He goes on to say: "Our new owner, Anton Zingarevich, discussed things with me. We had a 48 hour window when we wanted to get things sorted and we did."
Which would suggest he got certain undertakings that meant he did not want to consider Wolves, had he not got these undertaking, who knows?

He'd have been an idiot not to use Wolves interest to his advantage, means absolutely nothing in whether he'd have actually gone. He'd have likely got a better offer from the Prem in the summer without an almost certain relegation on his CV instead of another play off campaign without big spending.
The fact is NO ONE wanted the Wolves job, why would BMcD?

No Ian, it's not a fact, it's your opinion. Unless, of course you a privvy to the workings of the Wolves board and know exactly who applied and who was offered what. I'm guessing you aren't.
There are 20 Premier League managerial positions and, of those, about 3-4 will become available per year. Even in Wolves's position of the time, if you think no one would be interested in an opportunity at a Premier League club you are, as per, hugely mistaken.

Archie's penalty Schards and Woodcote. Ignoring complexities and ploughing ahead with their opinion since the year dot.
Seriously Schards' arguing is so similar to Woodcote's outburst during the Gunnarsson thread.
Anyway glad we can start arguing straight away. Why I love the board.
