Pepe the Horseman We do play it.

Very rarely though no? I've never heard the crowd sing it, which is a shame.

Perhaps we need an updated, Premier League version ....

It was 2.45 or 1.15 or 5.00 or 1.15 or 3.45 on a Sunday afternoon or 7.45 on a Monday evening and the place was alive ....

Stuboo If this is our anthem, why do they not play it before games?! I like it. It's pretty good. Why is this stuff not celebrated by the club?

They do, usually around 2:45 while everyone is on the concourse drinking beer

Hence the lyric "the crowd was still growing", though they should wait until 2-45. "Elm Park sound" doesn't make much sense nowadays though... but then neither would "mad stad sound" either!

Should def get played a lot more.

I agree.

This is a link to an article from 2009 about a campaign to get Kevin Girdler's Royals Anthem played more.

Royals Anthem was played on the PA system at the Madejski at about 2.10pm today as the goalkeepers warmed up. That's good and it would be great if they can play it closer to the kick off time too, to get the crowd involved.

I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT THE BLUES - ELTON JOHN

Perfect song and it has 'Blues' in it. I'm emailing the club.

We seriously need a club anthem everyone can sing. Was at a West ham fans wedding yesterday and they played forvever blowing bubbles. A regular song to welcome the team on that's unique is what we need.

Are you in favour of the one we have, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8t2DdseYwrk, or do you think we need a whole new song?

How about this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUDEMRhJ62Y

If nothing else the chorus (starts at around 1.06) would be a better goal celebration tune (seeing as the club are intent on playing something) than the current dreadful selection.

You can't force a new anthem on a club, either from within the club or outside.

It either happens spontaneously or it don't - but can't be forced.

Do Reading FC have a complaints/feedback system? If I get some spare time in the week I might write to them about playing the Reading Anthem by Kevin Girdler directly before games.
