reading_fan It does seem a ridiculous move for Blackburn. He did ok at Portsmouth, but has done very little at Blackpool to justify being "poached"

He didn't do anything at Pompey to warrant a move to Blackpool to be honest. Highly rated as a coach but the jury's out as a manager. This laughable from Blackburn. I'd give him until October.

Appleton confirmed as Blackburn manager. £350,000 compensation to Blackpool.

Appleton has won 15 games in his managerial career

Joke appointment. He wont last until October.

Had they gone for him instead of Berg then they could have got him for nothing.

I can assure you they won't be. Karl Oyston is proving to be little better than the Venkys.

Can anyone think of a way Blackburn could be more oxf*rd up if the Venky's were actively trying? Although I'm not ruling out that they aren't and this is all some sort of elaborate plan to knock down the ground and build a poultry factory.

They appear to have picked their manager based on who looks most like an egg.

Ideal I think their managerial appointment process consists of a large sheet of paper with faces/numbers on it, then the chicken walks around on it, and whoever the chicken shits on is the new manager.

Kind of like Paul the Octopus?

BBC Sport's Ian Dennis reports that Blackpool have earmarked Phil Parkinson as a possible replacement for Michael Appleton.
Parkinson has 6 months left on his current contract at Valley Parade.
The 45 year old has transformed Bradford City taking them to the fringes of the play off positions in League 2 as well as a magical run in the League Cup.
They are 90 minutes from a Wembley appearance after a 3-1 first leg victory against Aston Villa this week.

Surely Parky wouldn't leave Bradford until at least he's led them out at Wembley?

Multiple year contract to manage a team currently sat 6 points outside the play offs in Div 2 > one off game at Wembley with a Div 4 club where the likelihood is you will lose.

Or:

I'm rebuilding my reputation after it suffered from jumping ship too soon in the past and learning from the "McGhee effect" > going to Blackpool

Which would be the untilamte irony because that's how the manager will feel after a few weeks/months {delete as applicable}

Sean O'Driscol is the new manager of Bristol City. I thought he'd go back to Donny myself.

"The club has changed in a sense. In some ways they've come round to my way of thinking," O'Driscoll told BBC Radio Bristol.
