Does Ron Futcher's forearm smash on Martin Hicks jaw make it in here?

Wide and Wonderful At Elm Park Tom Jones had his leg broken just in front of me by the halfway line. Wasn't particularly gruesome to look at but the sound of the crack echoed round the ground and made me feel a little queezy for a while.

A Wolves player (Frogatt) also broke his leg at the same place on the pitch (a Simon Osbourne tackle?) again right in front of me.

Barnet's Kelly Haag broke Jones's leg, you're right about the crack as it broke, utterly nauseating.

A couple of months later the return match at Underhill was snowed off, we'd already got there. Haag was mooching around outside the ground and we had a right go at him about it. He didn't seem that bothered to be fair. True story.

Froggatt's was done by the touchline (by Scotty Taylor as already pointed out), Jones was in the centre circle (IIRC).

soggy biscuit There is an old one (obviously) of Souness putting in a disgraceful tackle on someone on youtube

Aside from that I would say the sunday league fatty who had enough of me standing in front of their keeper everytime we had a corner so he stamped on my foot really hard. Went off as I thought he had broken stuff in there, I hadn't.

I presume you mean this?

Love the way that he complains to the ref about his sock getting snagged in the process of trying to break someone's leg as if it's some sort of justification.

Diego Maradona. Left an indellible mark on the World Cup, and I'm not just talking about Joao Batista's testicles.

Not necessarily the worst tackle ever seen, but the most wreckless (that I've seen at close quarters), was Preston goalkeeper Carlo Nash's pole-axeing of Dave Kitson 5 or 6 years ago.

How he never got sent off

Not even a free kick given for that either. One of the most astonishing decisions I've ever witnessed.

Been lucky that I've never actually seen a bad break of a limb when watching a football match in the flesh. Missed Richard Carpenter's tackle on Chris Casper, as well as Ricky Newman's one on Danny Rodrigues. Worst one I can think of is this effort from Billy Clark on Gilkesy (25 seconds in).

Kelly Haag's on Tom Jones is definitely the worst one I've witnessed. Not sure whether it was Jones' shin bone breaking or him screaming in pain that was the heard the loudest.

I've just found it on Youtube, about 1min 5sec in on this clip. Doesn't really convey how stomach churning the sound was.

For best tackle I've ever seen - I remember Sonko making an amazing last ditch tackle early in his Reading career. Potentially/probably in a dull 0-0 draw at home to Burnley...off top of my head, I'd say October 2004.

Morrison's tackle on Jelavic earlier this season also ranks up there highly.

double d Hello. My friend and I were talking about the most nasty football tackles ever seen and thought I would post on here. His was David Busst years ago for Man City against Manchester United (Where Dennis Irwin threw up when he saw).

I had two. One was a Cameroonian defender in the 1990 WC who Poleaxed an Argentine Forward so hard his boot flew off.

The other is this delightful thing from that lovely guy Kevin Muscat..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxdgSBbFLP4

I also seem to remember Kitson (?) getting knocked out on the pitch once at a Reading game?

David Busst played for Coventry and it was no way deliberate. Schmeichel just couldn't look and they had to put sand in the goalmouth to cover up the blood.

Fox Talbot

Worst tackle I can remember wasn't even a Tackle. Ben Thatcher's forearm smash on some spurs player (Taricco?). Not miss-timed, not clumsy, just purely done to hurt the other player. There must be a video of it online somewhere.

Scott Taylor, not Simon Osborn; pretty much finished Froggatt.
