TBM Thought he had a good game tbf - we lost shape when he went off and nobody put a pass to feet

looks like you were watching a different game from everyone else yes

Want to edit that ^^

It was a shame Akpan got injured and had to come off because that was the most effective play we'd seen in midfield this season. After Guthrie went off we basically had no midfielders capable of putting their foot on the ball and playing a sensible pass and reverted to hoof ball.

On the face of it, we lost today to a much better side, but the progress towards something better than what we've seen was plain to see and Guthrie was at the heart of it.

Woodcote Royal Removed having been as useless as ever.

I'm happy to chip in £20 towards his train fare to somewhere far away..........................fcuk it, make that £50

Totally unjustified Woodcote....... We were far better with him on the pitch than without. One of the few players in a Reading shirt who actually looked up before he made a pass. I don't remember him hoofing it aimlessly down the pitch like his team mates did either. As you weren't at the game today bit rich to make a defamatory comment like that too.......

weybridgewanderer As predicted by so many on here, he makes all the difference.

Well done, guys, sorry I doubted you!!

Yep. Two starts, two losses. Cheers.

Clueless f*ckwits on Twitter celebr8ing Guthrie starting and Leigertwood dropped - I dedicate this result to you. I also heard a few pathetic high-pitched boos from our nob-headed support when Leigertwood introduced at half time.

P!ssed Off The Guthrie/Akpan/Karacan central midfield was one of our better performances of the season in that position. (Not saying much tho).

All three showed a lot of spirit in tackling and work rate, and some passing, in the first half before everything went to shit.
Antone questioning Guthrie's commitment based on today needs their eyes examined, he did about 5 or 6 full on slide tackles, as well as tracking back and trying to put pressure on Southampton.
The anti-Guthrie brigade really are clutching at straws today.

Absolutely agree. Moronic criticism of him today.

Guthrie > Akpan > Karacan today.

Guess which one played 90 minutes? Cheers Nigel :|

I dont understand why Guthrie gets all the grief, as soon as ledge came on, same old same old. hoof hoof, no tracking back and just strolls about, does anyone know if that guy actually breaks into a sweat

I'm happy to share it with our new manager (that would be the one who replaced the one many of you wanted sacked :| ) who clearly shared my view of this highly over rated player's performance...................and he was at the game rather than watching on TV

Looked pretty short of match fitness though, through some fault of his own. Actually thought the whole team looked short of stamina and pace, and not for the first time this season. As others have said, Guthrie was the pick of the midfield, along with Jobi IMO. Akpan was ok, Jem really, really poor.

ManchesterRoyals I dont understand why Guthrie gets all the grief

I do. The only notable thing he has done so far is refuse to play. Today he won a throw deep in their half. Gunter got the ball to take a quick throw to Guthrie, but what did he do? Just walked away, back to Gunter, head down and moping. Utterly unexcuseable. He was subbed a minute later as it didnt go unoticed on the bench.

Can't wait for this fcking disgrace of a player to leave the club.

Absolutely agree. He may be no better or no worse than other players but for me that did it. No redemption. He has been a divisive influence in what is a team sport. I await his words of wisdom on why he was subbed and why Adkins has it in for him. Tim Dellor spoke some strong words too. GET RID!

If you actually watch, that's what most of the players do in the same circumstances, because we're institutionally incapable of having anyone other than a full back or Morrison take a throw, as well as incapable of taking one quickly before they've all got into their planned positions.

I don't like Guthrie but fairs fair he played really well today. However I don't think legs was as bad as some say, can think of a few challenges he put and one great ball through that nearly got to ALF, karacan and akpan were hardly any better either.

Played well today, tried to make the passes that matter with no end product, due to our system. Lets hope he's here next season with us cause he will do well under Adkins.
