bcubed Piazon looks a very classy player to me
He reads the game very well and some of his first time touches are sublime
Those people slating him are going to look pretty silly by the end of the season.
As silly as those people who used to criticise Blackman!

at the end of the season he will still have been god damn awful in the Charlton match

Snowball136 Wasn't it Piazon who brilliantly (i.e. clattered in) won a ball in our box or just outside, and roared upfield

around the 80-minute mark?

?

100% agree he kept plugging away for the most part and definitely improved in the last 15
and for that I commend him.

spurred on a bit I think by not being subbed.

Also not sharing the Piazon love - was the weak link for me too.

It's true that he isn't a brick back-toilet. Maybe we should replace him with Alex Pearce?

That's probably in my top 10 moments at a Reading match.

That's something of a straw man argument. No-one is suggesting Piazon has to be a brick-back toilet, whatever the fcuk that is. The comments on here are simply that he loses the ball too easily, too often, which is quite true. While we're winning and he is contributing some good stuff up front, it can be overlooked. I suspect Clarke might be less forgiving if we were not.

And just because you can identify a single instance of a successful tackle, it doesn't invalidate the general point.

For those who place a certain importance in stats, Piazon is joint most frequently dispossessed at 2.4 times a game alongside Blackman and just a head of Sa.

About half as likely again to lose the ball as next placed Williams.

I referenced the idea of P being a brick sh!t-house (i.e. solid, heavy, like a CB) only because others had raised the idea pro/con.

I pointed out the excellent late tackle to reinforce the notion made by many that Piazon got better as the game progressed.

Keepers "lose a ball" about once a season. The fact that a player loses a ball more often (without context) means very little.

The more a player tries to carry a ball, the more likely he is to lose it. Norwood, for example hardly ever moves with the ball. He receives it, sometimes turns, passes, or wins a tackle, regains his balance, passes. So I'd expect his ball-losses to be very small.

As for Clarke being forgiving or un-forgiving, I suggest that he has a better "overall view" than the typical knee-jerking robber.

For all I know (and I don't know) the opposition may be told to clatter a certain player because "If you give him a chance to play he'll rip you a new one".

SC has PROVED he knows what he's doing, and if he chooses to play Piazon, I am 99.9% certain that, overall, it's the best thing for the club.

On a similar footing, HRK, who many think is utter sh!te, gets selected when fit, and recently had a monster 8.3 on who scored.com

His goal was the difference between winning and drawing at Burnley

His assist for Blackman's goal turned one point into three.

His defensive inadequacies lead to the Burnley goal, so at best he's evens on that match.

you are welcome to your opinion, but every time he went near the ball the oppo came away with it, until near the end.

jd82 Goal difference is only ever worth 0.5 of a point in relatively unusual circumstances, despite the 'goal difference is worth an extra point' chuff I heard people spouting on the way out. 3 points are worth 3 points every time.

It's almost like we were never relegated on goal difference.

But if someone else had played instead of him they might have scored two goals and got two assists :!:

Maybe, maybe not. That's not a sound basing to form a counter argument on when the opposing point is a fact.

Yes, many do think he's sh1te. Including whoscored.com who sum him as follows:-
Strengths
- Player has no significant strengths
Weaknesses
- Passing Weak
- Holding on to the ball Weak
- Finishing Weak
- Defensive contribution Weak

Hal Robson-Kanu's style of play
- Commits fouls often
- Does not dive into tackles

Nearly fcuking sh1t myself laughing when I read this. EVERYTHING we've been saying about him for the last two years. Now if this season is the watershed and he turns it around, fair play, but don't try to tell us he's already done it.
