Ferdinand or Hector ?

Who should partner McShane now that Ferdinand is back fit. Talking to my sad statto alter-ego I'm told

I think Ferdinand needs a run in the team, brings a calm head to side. At times Hector can let his emotions take over and exhibit all the traits needed to be a successful Chelsea player - cocky, gobby, and with an inflated view of his own ability/importance

Think McShane (who is our best signing IMO) could do with some support at the moment

They had a good partnership Building before he got injured , Last two games Hector has been dreadful and just does his own thing , need to get the defense locked back up !

I think Hector gets one more game's grace before I'd bring Ferdie back in. He wasn't horrendous today, just a little weak. And he offers a better range of passing (on his day) the ability to drive forward and a little extra pace than McShane or Ferdinand. But Ferdinand was very good when he was fit,.

Hector, on average, is a very good CB, but he's too inconsistent, always has a mistake in him (counterbalanced by occasional brilliance) but CBs should be like McShane, 99% reliable, predictable, first on the team-sheet.


I think (if Ferdinand is genuinely fit) that Ferdinand-McShane is the perfect balance.

If Hector was "ours" (not Chelsea's) we'd see him getting bits of game time, ready to take over next season.


I don't think he's BAD, and Chelsea's 4M says someone agrees, but I think his mental side is lacking and he needs to cut out the errors, even if that makes him (temporarily) look more ordinary.

I would love to hear what John Terry pre 2015 would say to him if he made such errors alongside him!

Which makes me wonder, is McShane vocal, does Hector think he's the finished article?

I'd stick with Hector for now but he probably needs to improve a bit, he'll end up being better than both McShane and Ferdinand but I suppose that's to Chelsea's gain now.

Hector has been terrible the last 2-3 games, granted he made a good move for our goal on Saturday but otherwise he has made so many mistakes recently. At Fulham for example he was bad from the 1st minute to the last. If Ferdinand is fit i would like to see him come in.

He was probably our best player at Rotherham.

Yep, he was great at Rotherham, has just had a couple of Hector 'moments' in the last couple of games. Rather than the opposite being true as I expected, he's actually got (imho) more Chelsea-worthy since he signed for them, he is very much growing as a player.

I'd stick with Hector, he is ours until May - at least, I have a feeling he might be back again next season - and his pace and ability coming out of defence trumps Ferdinand as a steady-eddie, for now.

dropping him for Ferdinand would certainly send him a message that he isn't.
