In the past it was almost certainly game over, the fans knew it, the players knew it. Whilst we still haven't quite got there yet (in the league come back win) there is already a sense of optimism even a goal down.

Nice to know that you went to the game yesterday and saw our no. 9 playing less bad than normal-if you had been to many of the other games you would have been tearing your hair out like the rest of us as we slipped further down the table.

The shame is that there is a half-decent player in there somewhere but after 8 years or so IMHO it is time for us to call it a day with him as he just doesn't do enough on a regular basis for us.

Fact is he didn't accept any offer, if in fact there was one, but that didn't stop someone feeding stories to the press. All very strange bit like the mystery around the disappearing Terry Burton, club remain very silent on that as well unless I've missed something ...

'Gunts' is a (sort of) nickname HRK is the same. Brian is McDermott's first name and is used by many on here because, well, just because. I have never seen or heard of anyone calling Robson-Kanu 'Kanu'.

I know you don't like Brian's style of football, and are very disappointed that we don't play like Barcelona, but that's the way it is. You actually said that we played like Barca on Saturday, except that it was too slow. When HRK went onto the wing, and Williams came into the middle, we were a better team than Wednesday, and certainly played better than we did in the first half. It would be easy for you to say that Wednesday were down to ten men, through no fault of ours, and, in any case, it's been seen so many times in football at every level that eleven men struggle against ten. I don't know why, but it is the case.

Still, it's nice to see that you are still trying to make a name for yourself by saying 'controversial' stuff. Keep at it, you may succeed one day!!

For the reason Nigel Howe explained quite openly at the time. Because they remember what has happened in the past and would rather not cause disruption fighting the inevitable if someone decides their commitment isn't to Reading. So we give them the option, making clear we want them to stay and would prefer them not to speak to the other club.

Something that is not unreasonable to expect for a manager who is three months into the season having being given the opportunity to completely overhaul the squad in the pursuit of promotion, after significantly under-performed in his time at the club in the previous season, despite talking up a good game.

Fair enough, point still stands that what you said was ridiculous though. Plenty of people have and do refer to Robson-Kanu as Kanu so it strikes me as amazingly over sensitive to suggest the name is used by Victor to belittle him.
