Reports that Newcastle directors are meeting to discuss McClaren and he is expected to be sacked tomorrow.

Decent move that, so much for his job being safe. I wonder if Rafa will be up for managing in the Championship if they get relegated though?

I'm sure you've got those the wrong way round.

Day 1 - doing a shit job for a shit club with a bunch of shit fans, everyone hates him - when will it ever end....?

Day 2 - I'm free!!! With a couple of million in the bank!!!

Well it sounds like Newcastle are doing this the classy way, all but appointing Rafa (according to the media of course) whilst McLaren is still in the job.

I know that the biggest [current] problem with the club is Mike Ashley but longer term the fans expectations and willingness to turn on the team and manager when those expectations aren't met are the bigger problem. Now Rafa has apparently got over 55% of votes in the local rags next manager poll but if he gets the job how long will it be before they decide his football is too dull, boring and effective?

I just can't see Rafa being popular up there long term.

As much as they might suggest otherwise now (and they were spoilt by the tactics under Keegan and to a lesser extent Robson), champagne football will be trumped by results if Benitez turns things around.

Shocking fact highlighted by Talksport that when Newcastle got relegated in 2008-09, their first choice centre backs were Taylor and Coloccini. 7 years later, their first choice centre-backs are....

Nah, can't agree. Short term they'll be happy with him because he's a big name but they expect to be top 6 AND playing attractive football.

As soon as Rafa is only 10/12th playing his normal defensive football they'll be on his back like any other coach they've had.

tbf Rafa is a good manager and if Newcastle manage to stay up this season i can see him making them a tough team to beat - taking them into the top half of the table and then build from there

tbf, 10/12th in the championship next season and he won't be doing much of a job.

Being reported this is the 2nd time Karanka has walked out on them this season. This time apparently the players went to see the owner and said they don't want him back.

Deadlock Forest have sacked Dougie Freedman.

I worry for Dougie, he always looks like he's one bit of bad news away from jumping off a bridge.
