No Fixed Abode Except we got rid of manager when things were really bad - you got rid of one when you were 1 point outside the play-offs.

Hoop BlahTop Flight Things HAVE gone tits-up! This whole summer is things going tits-up.
The issues we're faced with at the moment aren't down to lack of funding though, they're down to not getting the best out of the resources we've got and, probably, having far too many players in the squad who are here for the short term and don't really care about what happens here.
McDermott has built a reputation on building teams, spotting talent and supposedly getting the best from his players through exception man management. Next season, and the summer window, will give him a great chance to prove if that reputation is well founded or not.

No we weren't. Anyway, can't argue with form mate. Looks like Mourinho was turning the ship around.
What's that in PPG?

Extended-Phenotype Brian started off okay, some improvement on before, things looked to be - albeit slowly - heading in the right direction. It's kind of stalled a bit, some stuff performances, some unlucky ones, and a shame to see our own players rucking (a sign of problems? Or just heat of the moment idiocy?).
Had expected more by this point, but it's tricky to see if that expectation is unfair considering how the two managers before him also struggled for consistency. Not particularly sure Vydra deserved the time he has had and Kermorgant as a signing looks woeful to me but I'm still behind Brian and reckon he will sort things out next season, deserving as he does what Adkins and Clarke had: a summer window.
Didn't particulary agree with Adkins being sacked, nor Clarke - though I didn't warm to either and can see why they went - so not about to turn my back on Brian either. If we want to improve, we can't keep sacking managers half way into their project.

Top Flight I think there are many that would disagree with you that McDermott is tactically inept.
Results are mainly driven by the quality of players that you possess out on the pitch. The players we have are fricking useless.
Coppell didn't win the league when Paul Brooker was on the wing and Lloyd Owusu was up front with Les Ferdinand. Was Coppell tactically inept? He needed time to get the players in who had the quality to get results consistently.
McDermott is not a bad manager because his players are useless.

I'm afraid the buck stops with the manager regardless of what you think of the players ..

Why do you keep saying the same thing over and over like this point hasn't been discussed and addressed? Are you mentally ill?

It does when he has had 3 or 4 years to do things his way.
Not when he has a mess to clear up thanks to his predecessors and due to the previous mismanagement of team affairs. He hasn't had any time yet to sort things out.
If players don't want to perform then the answer is to get rid of them. That can only be done when a transfer window comes along.
This lack of patience is a real problem in football. Those that don't display patience go down the football league (villa, Derby). Those that have a long-term plan like Swansea or Bournemouth or Stoke or West Brom tend to find their level towards the top end of their club potential.
