genome Game over

Denmark have been sublime

I’ve rated them for a long time and felt we were always going to be knocked out today. I thought we would be better than that though. We were dire.

BBC punditry seems to be blaming it on being leggy and travelling a lot

Playing in the intensive heat of Baku then having to go up Rome where again it was an afternoon game in the heat......then up to Holland. Yeah looks about right.

Ascotexgunner Horror show, but we looked leggy.
Some of Rob Pages tactics are a bit questionable.
That said I said at the start of the tournament the defence bar Rodon worried me......especially Mepham and the 2 full backs. Got found out badly tonight.
Denmark look strong. Much stronger than I thought.

We have punched above our weight. So have Denmark for a small country. If Bale decides to retire it will be a problem because he carries this team. Our younger players also need to kick on.

I’m not convinced. We have had nearly a week between games.

Are Denmark dark horses? On our side of the draw, I wouldn’t consider ourselves, Germany or the Netherlands to be particularly strong, so a run to the final definitely seems possible, and then you only need one underdog win against a team like France or Belgium.

Yes they are and always have been. It will be harder for them now as their quarter final will be in Baku I think. They are streetwise, organised and skilful. Said this about them for a while now. I don’t understand why they are not rated.

It was pretty muggy weather in Amsterdam today too, not that would be any advantage to Denmark either. Sad to see Wales go but they were very out classed today.

It’s a bigger problem relying on someone who doesn’t hack the big games anymore IMO - flatters to deceive too regularly against the bigger teams, especially in the last few years

Allen and Morrell, as mentioned before, just aren’t good enough, don’t think they’d look out of place in a L1 side and when you’re playing the top teams, you can’t carry a midfield

Italy deserve to win the tournament on the basis of the elegance of the coaching staff’s summer blazers and trousers.

In all seriousness, the last few tournaments have been won by pragmatic teams who keep it tight, and you can see it influencing other teams (most notably England and how we don't utilise our attacking talent). I'd love to see an expansive, attacking team win and show you can win and entertain too.

The players I expected to come through just haven't. Brooks, although injured, needs to leave that non league retirement home to kick on. Ed Woodburn made so much of an impact but Liverpool have just wasted him. There are others as well. Ampadu was another one. He looked like a world beater but wtf happened?

Agreed, Germany and Italy (and England actually) have been great to watch going forward.

Much better that the dull Italian style you used to see.

Austria giving a surprisingly good account of themselves against Italy. Quite an open game.

Klinsmann’s jacket shirt combo is an abomination. You’re on television man.

Immobile possibly my new favourite player, his name amuses me and he reminds me of an Italian I once knew. Hope they stay alittle longer in the competition.
