In L2, Exeter finally promoted after missing out in the play-offs so many times.

Final promotion spot could be taken by anyone from Northampton down to Swindon in 8th.

Northampton, 3rd, and Port Vale, 4th both have to play Exeter.

John Madejski's Wallet
paultheroyal One team i do feel sorry for is AFC Wimbledon. Not won a game since December, but they have had lots of draws, and the amount of points dropped from conceding late late goals is incredible. Just one of those points would of given them a fighting chance, but now good as down.

The keeper error for the late shambolic show on Saturday was just outrageous. Then matched by Bowen's rant at the referee, when the referee was absolutely spot on, and he should be tearing into his goalkeeper for costing them league status.

Just went and looked it up

I'm trying to understand what happened here. Was it a goal kick that he moved a freekick that went outside the box?

was awarded a free kick but for some reason (didn't know it was awarded? had some brain fart?) kicked it to himself then played it downfield.

He shouldn't ever be allowed to play football again then

He has done a cracking job at Forest, really hope they stop Bournemouth going up automatically. Would be delicious.

and they play each other - what a match that will be.

Really want Middlesbrough or Blackburn for that matter to have a sniff at Luton - just to make that game against us interesting.

Cooper and Forest - incredible.

Boro have 3 very winnable games but are in shocking form. Blackburn will need to beat Bournemouth and I think we would all want that. Naturally Luton will need to lose to Fulham too, which is by no means guaranteed now they are on the beach.

What a season Forest have had under Cooper. Would be great to see them in the top flight again. Relegated from the Premier League in 1999.

From that table, Scotty P no doubt grateful for Bournemouth's good start to the season, hadn't realised how relatively poor their form had been since October/November.

Growing up - Liverpool vs Forest was always the game to watch.

They deserve their place in the Premier League.

What? Why do they? They get what they deserve for years of mismanagement and poor business decisions. Nobody has a divine right to anything in football.

They only deserve their place in the Premier League if they earn it this season.

No one deserves anything based on historical records.

So have Ipswich, so have we, so have Preston, so have Birmingham. The list is literally endless, Forest deserve nothing for being a big club 40 years ago.

I won't begrudge them a place in the Premier League, but that is more to the fact their performances this year, obviously since Cooper has come in, have been nothing short of promotion form. If they had been as bad as us this season, I certainly wouldn't be calling them to be promoted because they used to be a big club 20/30 years ago.

Teams that get promoted from the Championship tend to be those who had been relegated from the Premier League within the previous 3 seasons due to the parachute payments giving them an advantage (the parachute payments were always intended to be used by relegated clubs to maintain club staffing numbers rather than retain £100K a week, 40+ goal a season, International strikers), so for a team like Forest to get promoted would be an exceptional effort, especially given where they were.

However, I am someone else who fundamentally disagrees with the whole concept of teams "deserving" to be in the top flight simply by dint of who they are; the beauty of the football pyramid is that (within reason) any team can make it to the top, and any team can fall all the way down.

Takes the jeopardy/rewards away and football would be a lot less popular.

Have posted before, the thing about yo-yo clubs is somewhat of a myth, perpetuated by the admitted yoyo-ness of Norwich and Fulham, and probably WBA's relatively recent bouncing around. They are the only clubs with repeat promotions in the last six years. 16 of the last 18 clubs promoted to the PL have been different. That could become 18 of 21 if two of Forest, Luton or Blackburn find their way to promotion this season.

20/21
Norwich
Watford
Brentford

19/20
Leeds
West Brom
Fulham

18/19
Norwich
Sheffield United
Aston Villa

17/18
Wolves
Cardiff
Fulham

16/17
Newcastle
Brighton
Huddersfield

15/16
Burnley
Middlesbrough
Hull

OMA mentioned Preston. As far as I can tell, it is only them, Bristol City and Peterborough of current Championship sides who haven't been in the top division in my lifetime.

They are one of those clubs that does make you feel grateful about supporting the club you do. Reading are stuck in the middle of nowhere right now but at least we have had good times, we have played in the Premier League and had FA Cup semi finals etc. Supporting Preston must be a bit miserable, just going nowhere.

Out of anybody who is in the playoffs, I want Luton to go up
What a story that would be, up there with Blackpool
