It’s actually quite remarkable how close they mirror our first Prem attempt through limited signings, being one game off Europe in the first season, being in a position where they should be safe in the second season before ultimately plummeting with one team in the bottom three hitting a rich vein of form

Northampton planning on lodging formal complaint to EFL over Scunthorpe's team against Bristol Rovers that included 7 teenagers and 4 U18s. Scunthorpe made three changes from their previous game against Hartlepool.

From the fourth Thursday in March, any team sheet for a league game should include at least 10 outfield players who featured on the team sheet for the previous league game.

Scunthorpe adhered to those rules. Not sure Northampton have got a hope.

After Saturday Rovers deserve it anyway. They clawed back after a poor start to the season plus they beat Northampton both home and away and, while there might be something the FL need to look out in terms of team strengths in the latter stages of a season, Scunthorpe seem to have abided by the existing rules so perhaps Northampton should just concentrate on getting it right in the play offs.

I'm pretty sure Scunthorpe have been fielding a fair few youngsters when they were officially relegated anyway. A lad that I know has recently made his debut for them.

Play-offs see 5 ex league clubs: Wrexham, Halifax, Notts County, Grimsby and Chesterfield try and make a return. Solihull Moors try and make it in for the first time.
