Norfolk Royal
Stranded Harvey Blair is massively rated at Liverpool, if he develops as they hope he will be around the first team within a couple of years - this would be a fantastic coup as, if he performs, he is streets ahead of any of our lads - and that is no slight on them.

Never heard of the Norwich lad.

I have. One of my STH Norwich mates reckons he runs around like a headless chicken with no particular positional sense.

Yep, I heard similar. My mate said he wanders around aimlessly.

Tbf he’s young so he might improve and there are examples of where players do improve when they drop down a division. Antonio did well at Sheffield Wednesday.

I have seen some tweets linking us with Man City’s Lewis Fiorini. I would expect him to go to the Championship but I wouldn’t say no.

I did wonder if we might approach City for some of their youngsters based Selles possibly knowing Guardiola.

Would you take a gamble on Drinkwater if the price was right. Based on his last few games for us I would and he could be brilliant in League One.

Drinkwater spend last season without a club, not expecting that to change for next season.

That's because he's an unreliable liability. He made costly errors regularly in the Championship and I wouldn't expect that to change no matter the level, because they weren't about skill level.

35 by the end of next season, still he's probably the best we're likely to be able to get again!

Drinkwater won me over towards the end, but I have no idea what was wrong with him for those first few months. I'm not surprised that no club went in for him last season. He literally looked like a pub footballer for most of his time with us. I can only imagine he's back to that standard or worse.

12 months ago yes, he was arguably one of our best players (if not the best) from when Paul Ince first came into the club. Not a particularly high bar granted. 12 months on without being at a club, his career has probably finished now really so it's a no from me.

I thought he was Blackpool's best player on the opening day last season, good with the ball and not afraid to get on it. Would be like a Norwood-type player which we've missed since the man himself. Seems a talented little player, although he only featured 14 times for Blackpool last season whereas it was 39 the season previous for Lincoln at this level, so I don't think League One is out of the question.

If he can bring out what he showed on the opening day, I'm all for it. We are crying out for that type of midfielder and, providing that level of consistency, I'd be absolutely all-in for us spending a fee on (if/when we are actually allowed to do that).

26 starts in the Champ last year and likely off to Ipswich but as we will likely reply on youth this year, the odd experienced head will be needed.

We have got to stop looking at the past for help. Drinkwater is a busted flush and not the answer to any of our problems imo, lets look to the future.

Actually upon reflection I agree. One or two older heads who have been playing regularly won’t hurt but primarily I want to see a young dynamic team. I just think we’ll need to be patient as it might take a while for them to gel.

“Most of his time with us” - not sure that’s particularly accurate. Started off well before getting injured, had an awful period in January time before being one of our better players from mid-February time

Agree with OMA that he’s not someone we should be going back for but out of all the midfielders we’ve had these last couple of seasons, he’s been one of the better performing ones overall (very low bar admittedly)

Have to strongly, strongly disagree with 'overall'. Maybe my memory of this has just become frazzled, but i'm sure that he was atrocious from the moment he joined us. Like, literally one of the worst sets of performances I've ever seen from any professional footballer. I fully accept though that he improved significantly from February onward and was probably our best midfielder towards the end.

From memory he didn’t start playing until the mid September mark and most people agreed up until the Blackpool comeback game - he’d started well (a period in which we’d won 5 in the last 6 games). Had a couple of poor games before picking up an injury and IIRC barely played again until January. Had an awful month (as did the rest of the team) before ending on a high

It’s all subjective of course but I just don’t see how 1/2 poor months equates to some of the vitriol he received at the time. I can fully accept the argument he should have been better than he was given his pedigree mind

Regular midfielders we’ve had the last two seasons, Laurent, Rinomhota, Dele-Bashiru, Hendrick, Loum, Fornah, Ejaria and Drinkwater - hardly an inspiring lot but he’s far from been the worst of that lot IMO

Think we should try to loan in this Arsenal 'keeper:

Arsenal goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri on his future:

"I will have a short vacation when I return. I still don’t know what happens after that.

"I have really enjoyed being [in Finland]. The Finnish league is a very technical series, my passing skills have improved a lot here."

- There's only two Ovie Ejaria/Ovie Ejeheri
