That match is a candidate for match of the tournament. And it’s nil nil AET.

Imagine playing 120 minutes for penalties and then missing every single one.

Before the tournament they all said France, England and Portugal. All playing poorly. Ronaldo and Pepe are holding Portugal back. Conceicao off the bench looked threatening - perhaps he's playing their Cole Palmer role.

Pepe has been their best defender, that was his first mistake in the entire tournament.

Ronaldo is still their best striker and Ramos hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire since joining PSG.

NathStPaul The poor playing surface really hindered Ronaldo on that penalty.

Nah, it was a decent enough penalty that 95% of the time would have gone in, it was just an outstanding save. Like in the shootout they weren't awful penalties just great saves and sometimes you just have to credit the keepers for being exceptional.

Martinez really needs to do some proper managering and tell Ronaldo he's not the first choice freekick taker anymore. Let Fernandes have first dibs and he can pass it on to Ronaldo if he doesn't fancy it.

I get the impression noone is prepared to tell Ronaldo he is not first choice at anything

I take your point but I'd ask you who you really think manages that team. Martinez or Ronaldo?

NathStPaul Ref has clearly seen the Slovenian player feigned injury and dived. So why not book him? Ridiculous.

Yeh I don't get this
Noone seems to even suggest players doing this should be booked these days..

Someone got booked for diving early on in this tournament. Dunno which game it was, could have been the opening game.

NathStPaul Late night for Stranded.

It was, but worth it - Junior in school this morning despite not getting to bed until 00.30 is pretty impressive going. I'm WFH today, so doing ok on less sleep that usual. Given we didn't leave the stadium until 23.45 that was pretty good going still.

Would have to put that down as possibly the best 0-0 I've ever watched, undoubtedly helped by the fantastic atmosphere in the stadium - worth every Euro.
