For a bit more info

Pete O reporting this. It’s a perm switch, in last year or contract. He has played previously for Forest Green

The rumoured CBs aren't inspiring me. We have Stickland, Dorsett and Kanu as options who may have good careers but are probably not quite ready to start 45 games. We don't need that sort of player, but that's what we keep being linked with.

Where's the rumour of a CB with 100+ EFL appearances to partner O'Connor? I rate Stickland, so I don't think young, promising options will be substantially better than him.

Paudi O'Connor is the experienced head with 250+ appearances behind him. If Welch or Tomlinson are better than what we already have, and I'm sure we've scouted them, with Peirera, Jacob and Yiadom in defence alongside O'Connor to add experience, I don't see an issue. Dorsett can cover across the back line, Strickland would benefit from a loan to get experience and Kanu looks a long way from becoming a regular.

If we signed Messi some people would complain he's too old....

Damn, I'm turning into the owner....

On today's showing, Stickers is better than Dorsett (and probably less injury prone)

I can see sense in this. Ideally we'd repeat the Smith/Knibbs signings. Early to mid 20s, plenty of L1 experience but a higher ceiling to get better. But I guess that's hard to pull off.

Agree Kanu is some way off and only featured so much last season as we had no choice. But I think Stickland looks capable and should be involved.

I mentioned on the other thread that all the CBs we've been linked with are 6ft4+, so seems like we're looking for a big man at the back. Although O'Connor is 6ft3, so not exactly small.
