Pepe the Horseman
Mid Sussex Royal According to Twitter people at Bearwood earlier, we're waiting for international clearance from a player currently playing in the Bundesliga.

Brogue mentioned this last week. People speculating that it could be Scott Banks or Oladapo Afolayan, both at St Pauli. I'm sure there's a St Pauli fan on HNA, but can't remember his username.

Banks is 23 and not a striker, he plays primarily as a winger (previously with Dundee United and then Palace) which would seem to be rather supported by his cr@p (for a striker) scoring rate of something like 1 in every 12 games. Oladapo is 4 years older and previously with West Ham and Bolton, plays as a winger or a striker and is about 1 in every 5. Both are British so shouldn’t be an issue getting either cleared (assuming the target is one of them of course).

You typically get a lot of movement around deadline day with shakers and movers and trickling down from other deals higher up.

Could it be we only get a couple more before the start of the season and have to make do for August? In particular, I suspect the last 2 loan spots may be filled around deadline day.

So, given the w/end ultimatum, today's the day we finally discover what's occurring with Kelvin E's situation.

He was happily telling everyone at Bearwood yesterday that’s he’s staying. Be very weird if that wasn’t the case

Yeah, be happy with a couple more through the door this week (Morrell is certainly of interest as well as the other trialist)

Then pretty happy with what we have until August and see what we can pick up then

If Bowler is close to signing then that helps in one place of definite need.

Amankwah seems to have done well in the friendlies and is a ball carrying CB so would be useful addition.

Morrell is a decent player at this level, albeit in a position of least need but, despite injury concerns, worth a look.

I'd be happy with those 3 plus maybe another striker.

Would Morrell free up Wing to play a bit further forward?

Probably not. It seems a fairly tactical choice to have him dictate from the back. Seems unlikely we'd drop 2 of Savage/Knibbs/Elliott to bring in Morrell to push Wing forward.

Would be an option to sub on Morrell and push Wing forward if looking for a goal though.

My SC Preußen Münster supporting m8 reckons he'd be a good signing.

Currently out of contract. Is 23 and previously played for Schalke 04 II and Preußen Münster. He is not a striker, he is a RW or AM who can also play at right back (and we know Reading have a fetish for right backs). He is of Ghanian descent but a German national.

VfLBochum are supposedly leading the charge(?) to sign him…. :?

Looks tenacious and someone who would be a definite improvement over what the club currently has in wide positions.

Work permit might be a problem?

From the Pre-Season thread it looks like Kelvin E played the first "half" in the BCD game against Swindon today
