I guess it's fairly normal to recruit people you've worked with before if you think they did a good job back then. However, the risk of doing that too much is that you miss out on new blood and fresh ideas. Furthermore, I would suggest that Reading and Wycombe are very different clubs/businesses, so what worked for Wycombe might not necessarily work at Reading.

Had the pleasure of chatting with Mike and Grace Kearney yesterday. They were watching their grandson playing for Yate Town.
Mike was a hard as nails Glaswegian forward who played 150+ games for us in the late 70’s/ early 80’s.. He and Grace then ran the Royals Rendezvous and did various back of house jobs at the club. Mike still does a bit of driving for the Academy teams meaning they have nearly 50 years association with us.

You may not be wrong but it would be a massive mistake IMO as we could end up losing Tim who, also IMO, did so much to help carry our club through The Dark Days of Dai (There's a book title for you Leo/Roger T!) and still managed to come up with things like The Purple Turtle.

I am sure that amongst the skeleton staff that remain, there are those who worked tirelessly to save the club and keep it going for the supporters and town. They are the real heroes. Not Dedwood.

Always assumed the Royals Rendezvous kept Mike busy, but you may be right re Horse & Jockey. It’s still going albeit as The Castle Tap. Decent little pub, with quite an eclectic crowd.
