German 4th tier Hallescher FC played Augsburg in the cup at the weekend. Hallescher's analysis man was so incensed by what he believed was an offside goal that was given, that he tried to play the ref a clip of the goal on his laptop mid game, and got sent off for it

Listened to a Euro pod yesterday and they were really talking up Evan Ferguson's Seria A debut for Roma. Said he worked really hard, lots of running for team mates, created a couple of chances and went close to scoring himself. Fans really excited and newspapers giving him good reviews, one of which named him Man Of The Match and likened his style of play to Batistuta!

Yeah the Gilmour-McTominay midfield axis at Napoli last season was quite something.

Galatasaray broke the Turkish transfer record 3 times this summer

The Turkish Superlig record was €25M, but they signed Cakir from Trabzonspor for €27.5M, Singo from Monaco for €30.7M, and Osimhen from Napoli for €75M

they are also still working on getting Gundagan signed from Man City, and they brought in Leroy Sane on a free from Bayern

Primera Federacion (Spanish 3rd tier) started at the weekend, and there was disappointed in the both Casa El Franchiso and Casa Biscuit (Casa Galleta?) as FC Cartagena kicked off the season with a 0-0 draw away at the mighty Antiquera

They are doing a Liverpool and spending and improving from a position of strength.
They were also early front runners for the signing of Ederson from City who is now going to their big rivals, the managerless Fenerbahce.

Surprised they’ve got the finances to fund this given the situation out in Turkey.

Will be interesting to see how they do in Europe though.

tbf to McTominay, he was probably put into the DM role at Utd purely on the basis that he was tall (gr8 coaching #lads). As a more advanced midfielder crashing the box late, he did well for us. However, he took the space of the striker and was never going to get ahead of Bruno, so things didn't work out so well for him.

In January Winston Biscuit Vitesse, who were relegated from the top division in the Netherlands last season after being given an 18 point deduction, are currently bottom of the 2nd tier on -8 points after starting the season with a 6 point deduction, and then been given a further 21 point deduction late in 2024. There is no relegation from the 2nd tier though.

Dutch FA's Licensing Committee to decide at the end of the season whether to continue allowing Vitesse to have a professional license

Vitesse ended up receiving a 39 point deduction after being hit multiple times, finished bottom of the Dutch 2nd tier and have now had their professional licence revoked.

They have a chance to put forward their case this summer to get it back, but last summer they did the same, got it back, and now its been revoked again for the same financial reasons, plus not doing what they agreed to do last summer

"The licensing committee has arrived at its intention to revoke the licence because Vitesse is structurally evading the licensing system. After Vitesse's firm commitments in the summer of 2024, when the club was also in danger of losing its licence, the club has continued to circumvent and evade the licence system

The commitments made by Vitesse to the licensing board included control in relation to potential new owners. These commitments were not fulfilled. For instance, members of the supervisory board were removed from their positions at a crucial moment and were not replaced at that time"

Also, the independent foundation set up last year to help minimise sanction risks and money laundering risks failed to do its job properly and was dissolved midway through the season"

Appeals court overturns the decision and orders the Dutch FA to immediately re-admit Vitesse to professional competitions.

They are now looking into trying to get admitted to the 2nd tier this month, even though the season has already started and they have hardly any players registered to them
