FT 2-1. Not the complete performance to restore everyone's confidence in Hunt, but keeps the wolf from the door and buys him a bit more space. Still good in spells; we just need to bring it together over 90 minutes. In fairness, Orient are a decent L1 team even if not as good as last season, and they have a really good manager (I'm still bewildered that nobody in the Championship has poached him).

Tough away game next, but if we beat Mansfield in our next home game it'll be positive steps.

Well, you certainly can't fault the commitment or the effort. That was pure blood sweat and tears.

Williams on practically one leg, Marriott on fumes.

Definitely a game that could have gone either way. Both teams had opportunities to take/solidify the lead. Could easily have been 3-3/4-4 tbh. Great lift.

Now one loss in 5 with 2 draws and 2 wins.

Another pretty shocking performance until the subs. But that back to back home wins now. Gives hunt some breathing space. I’m now hunt in! Till the next international break and see where we are then. He’s earned that time after today. Still not convinced as the performances aren’t there yet. But you don’t sack a manager on the back of back to back home wins imo.

I've knocked Burns a lot but he was absolutely class at times today.

Marriott knows where the goal is.

We fought for every ball.

Effective subs.

Hunty doing alright in last few games, may the trend continue.

Difficult for Hunt, a very new squad and no player has really put in back to back decent performances all season. Makes it really difficult to pull out a proper first team

We looked better after the subs, and I also think Savage has looked lost this season. I think we should start 4-2-3-1 at Stockport with Wing and Fraser, with Elliott or Doyle ahead.

South Coast Royal Just about shaded it IMHO.
We made the better chances and their good approach play faltered on the edge of our box.
I was just thinking how little Lane had done, easily losing possession and weak in the tackle and he then does a couple of good things towards the end of the half prompting the commentator to say what a good half he had.

Very important for us to see this game out.

Lane ambling back allowed their man to get in.
The result was good but we don't half let the other team play don't we?
Heroic defending towards the end and Burns' block may well have kept the manager in a job.

Good win that. A game of 4 quarters. Orient dominated the first half of both halves and we dominated the second half of both halves.

Pereira - Couple of good saves. 7

Ahmed - Now that was a terrible game from him. When he played well at Portsmouth he was very composed, today he was diving into things and overly committing. Silly handball. 4

Burns - Best game in a Reading shirt. 7

Williams - Played through pain. Proper leader at the back. 7

Dorsett - Solid if unspectacular. One poor touch which ruined a promising attack. 5

Lane - Pretty quiet game. 5

Wing - Was actually more impressed with him defensively today rather than offensively. Put in one excellent corner. Just wish je laid off the whacking the ball up the pitch sometimes 6

Savage - Put himself about, but he's just not quite himself at the moment. 5

Fraser - played better in his out of position role than in previous efforts. Took his goal well. 7

Kyerewaa- Should've scored in the second half, but blazed over. Very busy, but as usual no real final quality. 5

Marriot - Missed his goal, looked to be well taken from the replay. Ran his heart out. 8 MotM

Subs:

Jacob - skinned twice immediately after coming on improved a bit afterwards and made a good interception bringing the ball out. 6

Ritchie - Good to see someone swing a cross in and see what happens and the team were rewarded with a srcond goal for it. Organised the press well. Another good addition. 7

Garcia - Good little cameo. Confident on the ball and a couple of clever little fouls to break up play. One slip which unfortunately lead to the big scramble at the end. 7

Doyle - Nothing major. 5

Ehibhatiomhan - Some good pressing and interceptions. Looked dangerous on the ball. 7

An odd game. Solid enough first half; first 25 of the second was borderline embarrassing- played off the park and Orient were all over us

Subs changed things massively and we did well to see the game out despite Orient chances

I suspect they’ll feel they should have won

Ritchie, Doyle and Kelvin made a huge difference. Back 4 did ok. I thought the starting midfield were pretty poor (is Wing starting to become a bit of a liability?) but generally improved

Starting front 3 an issue. Marriott can finish a chance but his all round game isn’t suited and offers little. Lane was very disappointing. I don’t get Kyeweraa at all - he just doesn’t seem very good to me

Have to get Ritchie and Doyle starting and I think we might get start improving a bit. I didn’t see a lot to be encouraged about before they came on

Kyerewaa is pretty simple for me. He's got buckets of pace and total commitment. He'll press like a demon out of possession and he'll get onto balls in behind and take players on in possession. He's always involved. He's also got a goal and an assist in his 8 appearances, which is certainly no bad return. He's a bit unpolished and it frequently doesn't come off, but I like him. And I think he's growing into the team.

The only players I think who can compete with his contribution to the press and break are Garcia and Lane. Camara's more about keeping the ball than running at anyone. Kelvin E doesn't have the legs or the work rate for the press over 70-90 minutes, nor does Ritchie

What a leader's performance from Ritchie though by the way. Belting out instructions, organising, dragging us from falling too deep, and holding up the ball along the line to kill time. The experience of him, Marriott and Williams is so clear to see.

Kyeweera wasn’t very involved today. He does press but it’s all a bit wild - difference with Ritchie (and Marriott tbf) is they are clever about it

Kelvin is more effective due to his size and did well pressing today

That Kyeweera assist was a pass to someone else that went wrong tbh. I just see him a useful sub for 20 mins to cause a bit of havoc

Our midfield is piss weak, teams just run through us at speed. imo we really need a DM to play DM to feed and free up Wing to dictate from a little further forward.

Our CBs played really well today, but it's really worrying that we don't seem to have anyone that can read a cross and leap properly. Defending balls into the box from corners etc is a massive weakness of ours.

Happy with the win, no nails left, Orient will be up there again, and who`s bright idea was it to put a screaming kid on PA duty, I doubt the away fans had a clue how much time was added on at the end.

I’d imagine something like this is the plan once Ritchie is up to full match fitness.

Brogue
Snowflake Royal The children doing the announcements is one of the most painful things I've ever heard.

+1

+1

Do the basics right, get an announcer you can hear and understand, oxf*rd off with the fireworks, and show replays of the goals.

I'm sorry but whoever that kid was - dont let them do it again.

+1 the subs changed it

After the second goal we defended well - Burns was my MOTM.
