FA Youth Cup 2025/6

by Royals and Racers » 17 Oct 2025 12:15

The premier competition for U 18’s has been going on since the 1st week in September with.
Preliminary round
1st round qualifying
2nd round qualifying
3rd round qualifying
We enter in the next round which is the 1st round proper with matches to be played by Saturday 1st November.
I am expecting the draw to be announced later today and hopefully the Royals will do better this season than last’s embarrassing result at AFC Dunstable at the 1st round stage.
The Youth Cup is one of the rare chances to see the U 18’s in action as spectators must be allowed to watch.

Indeed - I've only just got used to players being born from year 2000 onwards....

I've never got over Neil Webb being starting at 16 when I was nearly two years older.

Anyone remember when the Royals were kicked out of the 2017/8 Youth Cup after playing an underage Imari Samuels against Colchester Utd.

Mad rule. I understand you don't want players who are incapable of playing adequately in the competition, but if a club's made a determination a player is good enough for an U18 competition, they should be allowed to play whatever the age (obviously eighteen or younger).

To be fair to Reading he was 15 and ok when the match was played but only 14 on the August birth date deadline.

If this is the usual standard of our performances, it’s no wonder we’re struggling in the U18 league.

Started slowly but grew into the game as it went on. Bracknell as you might expect got plenty behind the ball and it was only a matter of time until we broke them down. Good crowd must have been close to a 50/50 split of home & away.

Every chance draw will be done this Friday for the 2nd round. Premier and Championship clubs enter into the comp in round 3( 44) and therefore we could be drawn against any of the other Southern based round 1 winners.- rules just state draw is done on a geographical basis ??

Yeah. Bracknell also tired as the game went on - the second goal really killed the game.
