Yep unless we get 4 points+ from the two games he’ll be out

It will be total folly to sack Hunt after that performance today. A manager cannot legislate for missed opportunities; the last few games have been decided by them. We could easily have got seven more points right now from the last three games. We couldn't've said that earlier in the season. There's clear progression being made.

Today was good and we were unlucky, but I don't agree with the wider diagnosis. The 1st halves against Mansfield and Exeter were abominations, especially at Exeter where we were gifted an early lead and still performed poorly for 45 minutes.

Ultimately a good performance in a game we still lost is not enough to save him; we need results. 11 points from 12 games and 1 point off the bottom. He could have no complaints if he's gone by Tuesday's game.

You save your job by improving things. Today was, by all accounts, a good performance marred by poor finishing. So Hunt is maybe starting to turn things around after a string of really poor showings.

Win against Northampton and Doncaster and Hunt's job will be safe for now. Which, of course, is what I want.

Yeah Mansfield and Exeter were dreadful games. And we could have lost both as easily as winning them

Today was def an upturn in performance but it’s one game

I was thinking more about specific chances we missed within those games, as opposed to the overall performances being great. We weren't really creating anything for the first six or so games this season, which is where we've progressed from.

6 points from those two would make the table look a lot better, and would build upon today's performance. Ideally they would be convincing wins, unlike Vale and Orient.

Do that and he definitely has more time - it would probably enough to suggest we're turning a corner combined with today.

But fail to deliver and it's bottom 3 after 14 games. There comes a point where you run out of chances and excuses. Sport is all about fine margins; I can see a route whereby we win those 2, get confidence and start a run which ultimately keeps job in a job into next season. But less than 4 points and it's simply untenable. His managerial career could hinge on a lucky deflection or a poor miss.

Napoleon said something about preferring a lucky general to a good general....

Looks like Noel is neither....

Yes.....this is how I see it; need 4 points from 2 winnable home games or its time for a change.

Yes unlucky today but these things even out and several of the draws and the Orient win were on the fortunate side.

He can legislate to an extent, Maybe he shouldn't keep selecting Lane who keeps missing very good opportunities.

I fear that the performance on Tuesday will be another poor one showing that the progression really isn't that clear.

I dearly hope to be proven wrong.

Absolutely not!
If he loves the club like he says he should resign.

Not forgetting the daylight robbery of the Bolton draw

We created chances to miss. Much more like it than not creating chances, which is what the preceding games were like. It is at least something for the fans to get behind during a match. Put in the same level of performance on Tuesday and we should be fine. If not, then serious questions can be asked.

Maybe relegation is what we need.

The great reset mk2, the first reset is working wonders in league 1

Nobody can sensibly deny that yesterday was a solid improvement. But you do have to wonder why we keep letting ourselves down so early in the second half.

You also wonder why that’s the first time we’ve played like that this season

I’m still voting No.

Can’t imagine there’s too many managers at Readings level who could make a better situation of the enforced changes he’s had to make since last season.

There are several - large player turnover is a fact of life in L1, shorter contracts than higher up the pyramid and better players leaving.

We (often) play badly and get beaten.
We (rarely) play well and get beaten.
Said all along Hunt is not a manager. Not now, not ever.
He will be sacked. I just hope it isn’t left too long.
