Dirk Gently
Royal Rother Of course you don't need the extra S. Mr Grammar-Pedant has disappeared up his own wotsit on that one.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Just adding an apostrophe after the "s" only applies to plural possessives - names are treated as singular and follow the "'s" rule, even of they already end in "s".

According to Lynne Truss, it's personal preference these days and not worth getting your knickers in a twist about.

Maybe that's the official old rule, but it's so rarely used these days, that the rule as well have changed. Either is acceptable. Lanugage evolves Dirkers.

It was optional even when I was at school 35 years ago.

DG likes to hang onto the past with grammar. We'd still be speaking Chaucer's English if guys like him had had any influence.

The rules (plural) have changed, the rule (singular) has changed, FFS.

I admit I missed out "may", but your version still makes no sense given the "as well".
"The rule may as well has changed" is just awful.

Some people.

Coppelled Streets Sanchez did a good job with Wycombe.
He did a great job with N.Ireland where to be honest he couldn't do any worse than previous managers.
He got a big chance at Fulham and bought some real shite for big big money.

*great.

With regards to Brendan Rodgers - VERY highly thought of at Chelsea.

But yes please!

Will that be Rodgered Streets now?

Well i am am pretty dam happy with Rodgers and as long as he gets rid of the awful HOOFball we were playing last year i will be for one extremely happy. And as someone said earlier the most important thing is we give him time. He has inherited a team that was very much Coppel's design, his style, his players, and for this reason he needs to be given time to do exactly the same and make his team, even if god forbid it takes more than a season. a young manager here for the foreseeable future.

Oddly the first girl I ever Rodgered, in 1969 IIRC, lived in Russell Street - that being a street off the Oxford Road, not the contributor to this forum of the same name.

Does he have to get his watch on show in every photo or is it just too big to fit under the cuff of his shirt?

I have to say that pic made me laugh - Rodgers looks so twee.

I think I'm going to have to post that up on the Watford site.
