Sutekh

Stevens
Abrefa - Des - Burns - Dorsett
Wing - Savage
Ritchie - Doyle - Lane
Marriott

Interesting from Savage in today’s interview that his role has changed; paraphrasing but he’s “sitting deeper alongside Wing in a 4-2-3-1, starting attacks rather than finishing them”. Which by default means Wing also has a similar role. Savage didn’t sound deflated about it or anything but you do wonder if Hunt is playing the right players in the right holes, and shifting old players out of position to accommodate new signings might be part of the problem.

Wing's free-kick deflects on to the crossbar.

Good start. Moving it nicely. Break was a bit frustrating, Doyle and Lane not actually very quick.

Just not quite got that final touch shot.

Ooo deflected fk onto bar!

And then O'Connor header on target from corner, but blocked.

Seems like we've started well, so Cardiff 1-0 Reading feels inevitable.

You can put your mortgage on Cardiff scoring with their first shot on target.

Shame, think Lane is actually playing quite well so far.

I think it was considerably easier for a right footer. But should have done better.

Feel we'll rue this first half if we don't score. But it's a good performance so far.

Tsk tak. Supporting the big City team instead of the rugged former coal and steal exporters of Newport County.

Typical champagne socialist.

Chuckle. I’ve actually been in the Newport home end (1) more than I’ve been in the Cardiff home end (0). I also have a Newport replica shirt but no Cardiff City shirt.

If we lose today, do we still view this first half as progress?

Been much better so far. Front 3 actually contributing - best game I’ve seen from Marriott and Lane so far

Cardiff look crap but maybe we’re making them so

WestYorksRoyal If we lose today, do we still view this first half as progress?

Obviously it would depend on the nature of the defeat, but everyone wrote us off as getting comfortably beaten, so even if we lose, even from before we took the lead, it should be looked at as positive... it obviously wouldn't be though, because tantrums.
