Reading staged an unexpected comeback, thanks to two second half goals from Le Fondre, to win their first Premier League game of the season at the eleventh attempt. The Royals were a goal down at half time after a series of defensive mistakes saw the visitors take the lead on ten minutes.
Reading looked far from composed throughout the first half, and the start of the second, until Le Fondre turned the game around against the run of play on 51 minutes. Nicky Shorey, continuing his excellent season, was the provider with a cross that saw Le Fondre head home. The goal saw Reading come back to life after looking down and out. With eleven minutes left to play Le Fondre was pushed over in the box and he picked himself up to fire home the penalty to secure a vital first victory for the Royals.
